Hello ISDS 705 Survivors or current participants (w/Gibbs):

Can you verify that MS Access is a requirement for the course? I am an Apple user (whole household) and will need to make arrangements if it is a requirement.

Appreciate any feedback provided.

You do need MS Access for one of the assignments with Gibbs.

However, I did not have it and did not intend to pay for it or go to the library as he suggested.

So I took a zero on that assignment and still got an easy A in the class.

Thanks, Cottonseed!

So it's an assignment...nothing on a weekly test or exam?

If that is the case, I have Access on my work computer that I can use to complete an assignment.

It’s an assignment that’s not worth a lot. I have a Mac and didn’t submit it and still pulled out an A without taking the final.

Just an FYI you’ll want to find workarounds for some of the excel spreadsheet assignments with a Mac. Google directions because they’ll be slightly different than Gibb’s videos for Microsoft comps.

Thank you for the insight! Do you think a background in business is helpful for this course with Khan? Or should I be okay with just the readings and lectures?

I’ve enjoyed Kahn’s course and his no bs personality. I was quite embarrassed about how my classmates acted during the live Q&A last week. I’ve made straight A’s and I’m no genius. Students were actually on the chat box saying they want a refund because he’s intentionally failing people lol. I’ve found that reading the text, listening to lectures and I downloaded Vango Notes Principles of Marketing by Kotler and Armstrong audio book. I find the chapter most relevant to our text and listen to it. It’s not that bad of a class.

True statement Menace!

I have found that it takes me a little adjusting to the different workload requirements for each course, but so far the only one that was heavier than I would have liked was MADM 701 with Williams. It was also the first course I took in the program, and was not used to being a student again.

Others want to complain about how the perceived value of the degree, while others are complaining it is too hard, or not really ready or capable to do the work.

Hey Guys, today everyone might have received email stating that state rep has filed a bill to merge LSUS in to La Tech.

Do any of you have any idea what will happen to our degree. I am about to complete my degree in Summer AP2.

I particularly enrolled into the program because it had AASCB accreditation for MBA degree, will it continue to be AASCB will the current enrolled student still get LSUS degree?

I am in little panic right now. If anybody has gone through similar situation in past, please share your insights, I am not much aware about education system in US and dont know what happens if there are mergers of University.

It might not be a bad thing...LA Tech is AACSB Accredited.

Glover is right about LSUS in this link:

@cottonseed, I took it, not bad at all. Do the problem sets 2 or 3 times and make sure you are solid, and you will get a 100. No trickery, very straightforward.

Currently doing Acct 701 with Prof. Yin. planning on doing 2 courses during summer session. Can I get some suggestions as to what two courses are to be avoided taken at the same time, and some info on the professors. TIA

It's 8 years. I posted an earlier response to this with the info directly from the LSUS MBA Resource Center in Moodle.

Time Limit
A student has eight years to complete the MBA degree starting when he/she begins graduate-level coursework. If the student does not meet the time limit requirement before graduate courses are completed, he/she must reenter under the catalog in effect at the time of re-entry or obtain approval from the Graduate Studies Committee, the Dean of the College of Business, Education, and Human Development, and Graduate Council to extend the time limit.

@presjohntyler

I agree with agreement.

I knew from the first zoom when that girl started going on and on about the test that there would be whiners.
I missed the last zoom and I wished he had posted the replay.
I like the guy a lot and can’t believe these people feel that entitled.
Was it the same girl acting up last week?
