Hi I am taking that class starting tomorrow. This is my first class into the program. Can you share your experiences with that professor other than the missed questions. I found that it is the LSU policy not to reveal the answers. How are the assessments? Your help is really appreciated.

Theres lots of new people asking for advice on professors that are probably teaching classes for the first or second time.
So if you're not getting info on a particular professor/class, its probably because the veterans dont know.

Speaking of which, anyone happen to be a real go-getter that has already tried Huang's ACCT 701 assessment? I know it's early but it's worth a shot. She seems to be new, so there's no information.

Based on her syllabus however, she seems like her class might be better than Yuan, although difficulty has yet to be measured. Even our knowledge of Yuan is still pretty limited.

Would anyone recommend taking MADM 710 and MADM 751 together? As these will be my last courses to finish up the program.

Thanks for your feedback. I was going to drop it as well BUT believe the course curriculum as changed to now include this? I have a year's worth of feedback from this forum indiciating the class was a breeze but after a review of the 35 page project guide believe I'm in for a bear. Both Professors teaching the course have this as a requirement so I am guessing this is the new normal. Awesome. I'll report back with a review.

Oh, I thought you were taking them together. Looks like we'll be taking Isaacs together

Well, so much for avoiding Wren and taking Isaacs. Apparently, that was changed last minute and Isaacs is no longer teaching this course. Some emergency. Hope he's fine, but dang it!

I dropped it and went with FIN 701. Didn’t want to chance it. How’s it going?

Guys. What. The. Hell. Happened. To. ISDS705. Being. Easiest. Class.

I saved this class for last because it had reputation of being easiest. Mary Lind and the other new guy both have same syllabus and structure. WORST CLASS I'VE TAKEN YET. Nothing but busy work.

Anyone else taking ISDS705 this term???

ISDS 705 is consistently stated as the easiest class when taken with Lin or Gibbs. Lin's class is full of outdated and/or useless knowledge which makes the entire class busywork. Who are you taking it with? There isn't much on Lind or the other new professor.

Unfortunately, in any classroom setting, the professor can make or break the course which is why reviews are so important. We generally recommend sticking with the known factors when possible. ISDS 705 would not be the first course that was "easy" with some professors and "hellish" with others. For better or worse, the program seems to be expanding at a phenomenal rate recently, so there are tons of new teachers.

ISDS 705 with Gibbs is the easiest class I have taken.

Watch some videos and follow along in Excel, and then take some quizzes that are not proctored, and poof easy A.

40-60 page or reading per week.
1 hr of zoom meeting. open forum.
1 exam each week, 25 Q, 35 minutes. (time is no issue here)
1 Assignment each week. 3-5 page of writing.

Exams are very tough. No open book. Do direct sentence like President of USA is _____. They are based on trick, learning. Can easily go wrong.

He is an easy grader.

Thank you for the insight! Do you think a background in business is helpful for this course with Khan? Or should I be okay with just the readings and lectures? I have no background in business (majored in molecular and cell biology) and was wondering if a strong foundation is needed in order to be successful in the course. Thanks for any advice in advance!

68 pages if you don’t read the “blue” links. It’s about 100 pages if you read everything.

Also, no zoom sessions... this class is apparently an exercise in reading tons of cut & paste and then taking the test without teacher instruction. My advisor confirmed yesterday the professors do not have to hold zoom sessions

I take it you're relatively new to the program? Don't expect Zoom sessions in any MKT or MADM course. In fact, don't expect lecture videos either. You may get pleasantly surprised with the occasional course that has lecture videos, but zoom sessions are in the unicorn zone.

Hi baroqen,

I am experiencing the same thing, it's a very intensive course. I am thinking of dropping it and retake with Lin.
