Stop hatin on Meeks, shite.
The guy is a pain in the arse, but I really did enjoy the course overall. Way better instructor than the Lins, McGees, and Darrats.

I am in Acct 701 with Ambrosia Spring AP1. I also have a Disney trip scheduled the last week of the class. Any insight on how screwed I am or is the class the type where I can study the week before and brush up the week of the final exam etc?
Also enjoy the next month off!

The last week was intense. quiz + assessment + cumulative final. Stay ahead.
The final requires studying (of course) but also a quiet place for about 2 hrs I believe.

Frick!
I was hoping it was just going to be that weeks material. If anything we are driving so lots of study time.
Now I am debating if I should try and switch classes for that session.

Ambrosia's final last session was failed by a large majority of the students.
He curved the grade a considerable amount and helped put everyone back in a good place.
If you truly understand the weekly assignments (the hard ones) you will be fine. You'll still need to brush up on it.
Honestly if I was gonna be out of pocket during the last week, I would drop while you still have time and take something else.
If thats not an option just keep up with the weekly work, study, and hope for a curve.

Satnights...I agree with everyone else. The last week of his class was pretty brutal. It's probably doable but you'll need to plan ahead & set aside time during vacation to get work done.

Also, don't forget to include the 3 chapters of reading for the week.

Satnights:
If it were me, I would postpone Disney for a week. But, you probably can't do that. So, the other option is to let everyone go to Disney and you stay back in the hotel and take care of business on one or two days. If that is just what it takes to get it done, then just get it done. You will have concentrated time without work and without anyone around and it might actually be better for you anyway. That way, you take Ambrosio for Accounting (which is a good thing) and you get it out of the way (which is a good thing).

MADM 701 with Williams, while not a great instructor, might allow you to have that last week mostly available for your vacation. There is reading, a discussion forum post (500-word minimum initial post + reply to another student, opens Friday, due Sunday) and a proctored weekly exam (not a comprehensive final, opens Wednesday, due Sunday) during week 7.
MADM 760 with Meeks (if you can get a seat) can be a completely dead Week 7 if you finish your Synthesis Paper and Group Project in Week 6. That is a MASSIVE amount of work and stress though.
ISDS 702 with Koksal is a relatively light Week 7 if you can get in. Watch a video lecture, do an assignment problem in Excel, take the proctored weekly exam (available the entire week).

This last session there was a lot of angst regarding Dr. Meeks, but I took him for both MADM760 and MADM751 and really enjoyed his classes. Of the three you listed, I think this is the only one that gives you a real chance to enjoy your vacation.

Grades have officially posted for AP2. Nice!

Does anyone have any suggestion on Marketing 701 with Darrat ? Is it doable with ISDS 705 ? Are they both proctored ?
Posted on 12/10/18 at 9:38 pm to sernt18
MKT 701 with Darrat... which one? There are two. M Darrat might provide a little interaction through an open forum, A Darrat will probably not provide any interaction.
I expect they will probably use identical formats, as they definitely use identical rubrics. Setup for A Darrat was... 3 easy weeks (Weeks 1, 2, 6 - 2 discussion forums), 2 intense weeks (weeks 3, 5 -almost 50% of your grade (240/500) will be on the line with a case analysis, test, and discussion forum all due. The other two weeks are moderate with one discussion forum, and either a case analyis (Week 4) or a test (Week 7).
Tests are not cumulative, which is good, but the pacing of the class is really horrible. McLaughlin has the best paced class (every week has very similar levels of moderate work) but no interaction. Meeks has the best interaction (he's one of the few actual teachers that actually... you know... teach) but a seriously heavy workload.
A Darrat doesn't teach, no interaction, bad pacing, and test questions that come out of nowhere. If you're not a good enough writer to consistently get 100's on the writing parts, you likely won't be able to manage an A because you will NEED the writing points to balance out the tests.
M Darrat is currently the subject of a lot of resentment, and I can't give an accurate picture because my experience was the FUBAR ISDS 710 which did a complete 180 halfway through the session. Based on the second half, I'd expect a similar experience to A Darrat.
ISDS 705 can be paired with anything, or even tripled with two other moderate load classes.

Can you send me the material for 710 and 720 at mn1423@hotmail.com? Appreciate the help?
Thanks

@baroqen Thank you for your advice ! I don't see anyone available for marketing except M Darrat for AP1. Does anyone other than M Darrat and A Darrat teach marketing ? What do you think about taking Finance 701 with Vines ? Is there a better choice over him ?

If you haven't already dropped ACCT or are still on the fence, I'd chime in to agree that you should seriously consider doing so. Wk-7 is the heaviest workload and if I'm not mistaken, you MUST take the final on a specific day. Not cool if that turns out to be the day you have lots of stuff planned with the kids. I don't have experience in ISDS 702 or MADM 760 so can't help there. I'll give unsolicited touchy-feely words though that provide a counter-thought to BusinessKnight...
Most of us are taking the program to, in some indirect way, benefit our families. If you can't find a suitable class that works with the family trip you already have planned, what do you lose by taking the 1/2 semester off? We all want to be done, but seven weeks delay in the grand scheme of things? Set that next to the prospect of being totally stressed out and distracted while on the trip. I just did a Disney trip this past summer and that "fun" trip was all the stress I could handle. I can't imagine dealing with that and trying to create life-long happy memories for the kids while being worried about putting together massive papers or studying for heavily-weighted cumulative finals, etc...
Ultimately, I took the 7-wk term off because of the 1-wk trip. I debated with myself about how wise that was... until I was on the trip. If there is an option though that lets you get wk-7 done or 80% done before you head out... win/win. Good luck with everything.

sernt18,
James also teaches MKT, but the feedback from her class appears to be even worse than the Darrats'. A. Darrat's class was not difficult, just bad pacing and messed up exams. I know that sounds like a contradiction, but aside from weeks 3 and 5 which were a bit exhausting, the class is pretty easy overall. I have a review of the class posted with the "A" strategy. Keep in mind that I took two MKT classes that session, which meant the amount of reading and writing I had to do each week was just insane.
Vines is generally one of the more highly recommended professors. I haven't taken the course yet, but based on previous reviews it appears both Choi and Vines are good choices for FIN.
