This synthesis paper for Meeks will be the death of me!
Question: I have 11 external references but this does not include any videos or the Playing to Win book. Will this be an issue??

Congratulations to everyone who is done. I took my last test last night and made a 90% which lowered my average to 98.25. I submitted my last forum post and responses, which are the only things left to be graded, so I am pretty sure I will still have an A even if I made a zero, and will graduate with a 4.0.
I am done with the MBA program.
Did it in less than a year. Glad I did it. Glad it is over.

He doesn't list where the references need to come from, so it shouldn't matter.

Same here, finished in 5 terms, 10 months, which is a big reason why I went with LSUS to begin with.
Congrats!

Whats slightly ironic is that I used several paragraphs from my socratic skill builders and it did not generate a hit.

Congrats to anyone finishing the program. I'm a bit jealous, but frankly happy for the coming break. Two terms to go after the break. More than halfway through but man... it feels like it's been a LOT longer than 6 months.
I'm done with this term. Finished my last 1.5 page paper for McLaughlin's MADM 760. Unlike a ramblefest paperthatneverends where you can drone on and one and write as much as you want, it can be a real challenge to condense all your thoughts into a highly concise and targeted 1-1.5 page paper focused on 3 narrow criteria...
But seriously, McLaughlin's class really was pretty good compared to some of the other writing classes so far (I've taken both Darrat's). It's definitely still a self-study class, but the text does a pretty good job (and written in 2014, which is good for a management book). The weekly paper is an actual application assignment requiring you to locate and discuss a recent article that actually relates to the course topics of that week, rather than the case analyses that seem to be on comparatively random topics. If she added some interactive features, it would probably be the top writing based class in the program. I know I like to make digs at Meeks' class, but I really do value a teacher who puts in the effort to make videos, have open forums, and weekly zooms. Despite the massive paper and groupwork, I believe he has all three and that is probably what raises his class above the others.
Taking the McLaughlin section for MADM 701 with ISDS 702 next term! My last writing class for the program, and I'd rather not have any surprises. Then on to ACCT and FIN paired for my final term... hope that isn't a mistake.

I have no idea what any of this shite means.
i know just takes notes and move on, but still. the last test was some off the wall stuff.

you are not alone. Im reading this stuff and I my brain will not retain this bizarre material.
How was your proctorU setup? My first one I had a great tech. she was quick. The second guy was clearly not happy with his job.

Im debating mclaughlin vs heller right now.

the first one was easy, a girl from Grenada. i tried to make small talk because I also have a Carribean accent but she would not divert from her script. My wife was in the background in the living room reading a book and the proctor didn't say anything.
the second one had a Spanish accent. my son happened to pass behind me and she flipped out but i got him out of the room and everything went fine.
this material though..... what is any of it supposed to mean and who cares??? I got through the text fine, but these articles are like out of space to me. I have no idea what any of it means. I'm tying to make notes, but I do not understand any of it to even be able to make notes. i feel like this class was a horrific mistake
he did include a TED video that he says isn't going to be tested on. that was extremely interesting.

agreed. TED talk videos are pretty awesome overall.

Do you mean your TURNITIN score didn't increase inspite of pulling content from your skill builder ? If so, it would be nice because i'm pulling half of the content from skill builder. How soon can you resubmit the paper after first attempt ? If I get turnitin report instantly, can i resubmit the paper within an hour?

What is the key to get good score in synthesis paper ? Is it quality of writing or volume ?
Posted on 12/5/18 at 10:31 pm to bsramzy
@bsramzy Do we need to include the same titles as is in the template such as Strategic Management and the nature of Business"and all others as mentioned?

For ISDS 705 Lin the final has me a bit worried. I have a gone over the articles a few times and retained nothing. I am not sure what I should add to my note sheet as there is hardly any definitions. There was not that much text so I am not sure how much of that is going to be on the test.

Are you guys reading that highly technical thing regarding security or something? I don't think I remembered a single word of it, wrote maybe 3-5 definitions/acronyms out of it (remember, my review mentions definitions AND acronyms along with trivia) and did fine. I should clarify that definitions should include various agencies or programs and what they do.
Don't worry about understanding. Don't anticipate any application type questions. Anticipate WORD FOR WORD definitions of terms or agencies. As (unrelated) examples, do NOT expect an application question like:
In the case of a global outbreak of the zombie virus, who should you call first?
a) CDC
b) WHO
c) Who has time to call, I'm getting in my bunker!
Expect something along the lines of:
"What does CDC stand for"
a) Center for Disease Control
b) Captain Dorkus Commodus
etc.
Remember you can manually change the font size lower than 8. I used 6 point Arial Narrow. It makes it hard to read, but you really have a ton of time.
Scan any text for words you don't understand. Look for a definition or explanation immediately preceding or following it. If there isn't one, you won't be required to actually attempt to think or connect any dots to something in the next paragraph, just move on.
