Haha. Since I'm in Marketing, I was actually looking forward to a marketing class with a few numbers added. The current one seems like it might be tough. I can't be sure yet, but there's quite a lot to remember. Maybe it will just click and everything will fall into place, but I'm spending a lot of time on this right now.
I'm hoping that knowledge of R will translate well to SAS and vice versa, as I'm about to start working with our Analytics team and SAS.

@tigerdragon - smart man, i should have done the same. weekly group meetings with 5 people in 4 different time zones = talk about cluster***k. whoever talked me into staying in Meeks, bad move on my part. at least its only 7 weeks long....only a couple days in now and it is painful already.

At least all 5 people in your group appear to have a pulse! So far I've got one member MIA and another seems to only want to do anything at 5:30am their time.

Ha! only 3 are accounted for, 2 are MIA. i just looked up their info and saw one is in Georgia, and one in California. The time zones issues are going to be the most difficult part, i think this is the flaw in group work...

Week 1: A test on a single chapter, a 3 paragraph application assignment and a primary and 2 reply forum posts.

I just couldn’t swing group work. My kids are both little (3 and 6) and I work full time. It didn’t seem like it was going to be a good fit at all, but I like the format of the McLaughlin class a lot!

I like the format as well but I will reserve final judgement until after I've seen how the grading goes...

Has anyone taken HCAD 750 with Gherfal? If so, can you recommend some decent external sources for his written assignments? It would be a great help!

Yeah, I'm starting to regret this group work thing. The one positive is that the tests in Meeks' class are unproctored 20 question quizzes you can take up to 10 times, and he takes the highest grade.

All of my team members are now online, so it looks like we are off to the races. Of course, we can only meet at extremely odd times thanks to geography, family, and work schedules. Some work days, some work nights, some work weekends, some have kid activities, etc. And then add in Thanksgiving week. This will be interesting...
I think I would rather have a smaller 3 person team. Fewer lines of communication and scheduling issues.

Google Scholar was very helpful for me. Find a few related research papers and sprinkle in quoted, cited content.
I find the online LSUS library's research journal search to be highly lacking and unusable.
You may be able to get some interesting and relevant sources out of the LSUS interface to Statista. Maybe some other useful sources here too: LINK

Which is what sold me on McLaughlin. After Lutzhill's posts about the format, I figured I had to skip Meeks. Just my own schedule is, busy work, about to change departments at work... so going to do totally new work and a new office. Add two small kids, demanding wife, family activities, holidays, and my geography is MUCH harder to deal with since I'm around 12 time zones apart...
My only real problem with McLaughlin so far is just the fact that there's no "word limit" criteria on the posts for reference. I'll just have to see how grading goes, but it certainly adds an element of uncertainty. The good thing is, McLaughlin's highly predictable format (workload each week is about the same across all 7 weeks) enables me to focus more on the new ISDS 710 format. It seems, at once, both relatively easy and difficult. I can't quite decide yet.

how are you guys planning on handling the workload?
will you just work on the slides while doing the zoom sessions in real time?
or have multiple zoom sessions per week?

Splitting up the work on the slides among the team during the week and compiling the slides into one document. Then meet via Zoom to review the finished product, rehearse the presentation, and record the presentation.

That’s a good plan. I suggest building the deck outside of the meeting then selecting one slide to go over & record with the team. This’ll cut time since the recording is only 3-5min
