Millennials and Gen-Z are extremely comfortable using twitter and other forms of social media. Learning to use this medium to express complex ideas can only help you.

Agreed. I can see why people would be uncomfortable and want to opt out of the social media requirements. But I also agree it's forcing us to stay current.

Plus you can always create a Twitter handle with your LSUS email, only use it for the class, and delete it when finished.

I too cringed when I saw the warning for the MADM715 "book," but it doesn't seem that bad. It's very readable--more like a lecture transcript than anything.
The twitter thing looks like busy work, but it's only a post per week and under 10% of the total grade. Create an account and delete it after the class is over. I don't see this as a big deal. It's 140 characters max per week for a class--pretty difficult to offend or have it come back to haunt you.

Anyone in MADM 730 or HCAD 750? I'd love to see a syllabus for each. I'm signed up for MADM 715 and I'd like to compare the classes. TIA.

I'm in MADM730 and there is nothing posted outside of the text, which is pretty poor considering the class opens tomorrow morning. Not a good first impression.
Edit: Syllabus and week 1 materials are now up.

Cottonseed,
I read the case study also but have not started reading "Playing to Win". I just received it yesterday. I am just now getting on and see that he has posted several videos. I have watch all but 2 so far. I wish I would have gotten on earlier.

Well you’re ahead of me on the videos
Haven’t started them yet.
Just read through the attachment on his week 1 announcement email.

Totally changing the subject here but my Microsoft Office has expired and before I renew for another year, do we get a free version through LSUS by any chance? I googled but could only find free software for LSU and LSUE, but found nothing for LSUS. If anyone knows and could direct me, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Thanks!

A popular request over the last few years from students has been that LSUS pursue the ability to be able to distribute Microsoft Office products to our students for free. This semester that request becomes a reality. Starting now you can download office onto up to 5 devices you own, both desktop and mobile. Our Office 365 software download includes the latest versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Access, Publisher, Outlook, and OneDrive. The right to utilize the Microsoft Office products continues until you are no longer an enrolled student or you graduate.

I got stuck in the last storm all week without any internet or computers. Anyone have any suggestions on whether the Playing to book is necessary or not? Or by any chance anyone have an e-copy available?
Posted on 3/12/18 at 8:38 pm to SilverNblack
PTW is definitely necessary. Meeks will ask you questions about it on the weekly quizzes and in the Socratic Skillbuilders

Honestly, Playing To Win will be one of my favorite things to come out of this program. I would never have heard of or read the book otherwise and I thought it was a great read and critical to the class and program. Meek’s application of it made it that much better. I downloaded it on Audible and listened to it on my commute when I didn’t have the time to sit and read. Don’t skimp out on this book.

I have a pdf copy of PTW from when I took it. Let me know where to send it...

Hi, I’m in this course, as well. Did you get the info you needed?
Posted on 3/13/18 at 4:30 pm to Jeaux Cool
Regarding the Playing to Win book, I was able to find the hard copy and audiobook at my local library. Worth a shot to check the public library if you're still looking for the book.
