@tigerdragaon I am with you. Not taking that assessment until after I walk and get my diploma in hand. I have a final exam and 4 more pages of my portfolio in MADM720 and I will be done. Just submitted my synthesis paper for Meeks. It wasn't fun but not as dreadful as I thought because most of it was already written through the skillbuilders.
Congrats to all that are graduating. See some of you next sunday! We made it!

Loving the spirited debate
@businessknight I can see your concerns. In my courses I haven’t had the same experiences. Are there some students that post piss poor discussion post? Yes. But it was far from the majority. Most are well written, thought out, relevant post that prompt engaging follow up discussion. And I can see why you would say comical about my comparison. But I also said loosely for that reason lol.
Them losing funding concern wasn’t just an LSUS issue. The main campus faced major cuts as well. Just ensuring people understand full context. Educational systems are faced with looming federal and state funding cuts more often than they should. I don’t think the 2016 situation reflects at all on the quality of the program at the time.
And agreed that outside of LA radius, people really don’t care that it’s a satellite school. Working in HR, I see resumes with schools listed that I have never heard of. Shout out to football teams for having a lot of schools being “recognized”.

@businessknight I'm going to have to agree to disagree with you. For you to say completing the program doesnt make you better prepared to run a business or having a position of significance is you discounting the entire process of obtaining the degree. The prioritization, studying, reading, comprehensive writing etc that has to occur to get through the classes alone teaches something. Regardless of the specific curriculum. Effort had to be put forth to complete the class. More effort likely resorted in better grades. So yes you do get out of it what you but in. I knew going into an online program that a lot more self teaching and guiding would be involved.
I loosely equate the Harvard/lsus debate to public/private school debates that occur daily. Does paying more money mean better education? Maybe. Maybe not. Does paying more money guarantee a better education. Not necessarily. Regardless those public school kids are learning and still go on to be successful, well educated, well rounded individuals who go on to own extremely successful businesses. Education is about expanding your knowledge base. Whether you do it through formal or informal channels you are still learning something. You are basically discounting the entire process and stating you got nothing from your time earning your degree. At least that's how it came across to me
And If that is the case. that's a bummer. Because you should be proud of the degree you earned from LSUS. I know I will be. Go Pilots!

I'm with those i meeks that are actually liking the case analysis and class in general. My group is great. And I'm definitely learning alot in the class. Like somebody said previously, you get out of it what you put in.
@GeauxUF hahaha at riveting tale of Principles Of Managerial accounting. I think i read a similar riveting tale about Strategic HR while I was on a beach in Miami this past summer. Sometimes you have to sacrifice.
Love the idea of text to speech. Wish I was that type of learner as I have a lot of road time for work. But I am far from an auditory learner and I regularly practice selective listening ha!
@baroquen how are you holding up in 760 and 720? Again, what possessed us to do this to ourselves? At this point I can crank out a 10+ page paper like it's nothing
@mtntreks congrats! you going to the induction ceremony?
waiting for these last 4 weeks to be here and gone. It's so close....yet so far...

One reason why I chose LSUS is because of its affiliation with the flagship campus. I highly doubt they will allow the Shreveport campus to come even close to being at risk of losing their accreditation. Additionally, I have a peer paying several tens of thousands of dollars more than us in a "prestigious" business school and spent her first class dealing with a similar debacle of disorganization and lack of professor engagement. She said it was a mess and his lectures were awful and only served to confuse them basically. But goes to show there are bad professors everywhere. Nobody panic.
Definitely disappointing to know the DA concentration still has kinks to work out and that yal are caught up in it though. Switching the format midway. Who does that?!

@baroquen the pairing was a bad idea for me due to the workload, content (math isnt my best subject) and being in peak season at work so not having the time needed to study.
Question for anybody in or previously taken MADM 760 -Meeks:
How are you all recording your team meeting with shared content and all team members in the shot? We are using zoom and it's only recording the active speaker in the corner of the screen.
I've changed a ton of settings and talked to 3 different zoom techs... any advice would be helpful!

@TigerDragon WE MADE IT! See you there!
Also adding from discussion a few pages back...I think A Darrat is getting a slightly undue bad rep. I would take him again. The book IS NOT OPTIONAL but available to download for free if you google it. Read the book and the class and assignments make sense. Don't and you will struggle. Made an A and honestly could have doubled it with another class. Nothing can be worse than my bad decision over the summer of taking ACCT and FIN together.

@bsramzy OMG!!!!!!!!! You feel my pain!!! I opened those syllabus and said what did I do? I should have taken one of these with MKT 701. I took it solo because of feedback but looking back could have paired it. Wishing you luck. I have slept little this week.
Happy New Term everyone. It's my final stretch until graduation!
In Meeks (MADM760) with several of you all. I consider myself lucky (knocks on wood) because my team was all responsive by Tuesday Morning and we had our first Zoom meeting Wednesday night. Had no issues deciding on a meeting day/time and everyone is responsive in our group chat and discussion board. I stayed with Meeks because I didn't want another discussion post and (2) replies class. I am enjoying the interaction with my classmates in real time.
Also in MADM720 with Williams. The Leadership Portfolio is daunting but the material will be interesting.
Overall I am relatively calm out of the gate this term. I guess because I know THIS.IS.IT.! :nana:

@marek76 i feel you on the senioritis. Except mine set in a term too soon haha! Just need to make it through my last 2 classes in AP2 and I can consider this journey complete. Definitely ready to have some worry-free, free time back.
Darrat posted this in the office forum:
“Any text on marketing strategy or strategic marketing management would suffice as an aid to help clarify subject matter in the notes. I recommend Marketing Management by Kotler and Keller. “
** GET KOTLER AND KELLER **Someone posted the link a few pages back. Can’t easily find it on my phone.
Definitely understand being ticked considering textbooks are not “required” and ours was suppose to be “optional”. ITS NOT. I started the textbook week 1 and it’s obvious that the class aligns with the textbook and The PowerPoint is his lecture notes loosely pulled together. Read the text and all the slides make sense and serve as a helpful supplement to your own study guide; as detailed as the questions were, can’t rely just on the PowerPoint. Even the assignments correlate appropriately imo. I am having a very different experience with the class because I got the textbook. Actually enjoying learning about the complexities of marketing. (Textbook is a good read). PowerPoint title page is the chapter titles basically. He may have tweaked a word here and there.
Are you tired of me saying it? Textbook. :-)

@Marek and @WhoNeedsSleep did you read the textbook or just review the slides? Had i just reviewed the slides I think i would have crashed and burned. The textbook really explained the concepts in detail which is what you needed to know for the exam.
@mm268b Module 3 is open for me as well. Won't be taking the exam until next Sunday though.
Regarding Vines, I made my best exam scores on the qualitative questions. He really is the king of partial credit. Be careful what you are getting frustrated about. His quantitative questions can be VERY daunting. And don't get 8 of 10 quantitative questions. That 60 minutes ends up feeling like 3. Hang in there!

@Brandon and @dwa now that the first test is behind you, and you have an idea of how difficult the test will be, does that help you to prepare differently for the upcoming exams? Also, have the class averages been made available so you can see where you fell on the curve? If majority of the class didnt do well, I would think and hope the professor would react appropriately.
For MKT701 darrat students, discussion post grades are up.

@CajunPilot1 I took MADM701 with Knotts as my first class in the program. At the time, it was discussed in this forum to try to avoid Williams as the workload and exams were intense. Looks like not much has changed. Good Luck!
@diedaily THANKS!!!
@baroqen I was wondering the same thing. I noticed discussion post going up as early as mid afternoon on Monday. I was like, what am i missing? Also, I too was wondering did i over think my post. It ended up being about 550 words with 4 references. But once I could see the other post, I may have overdone it. My grade will tell.

@mm268 the video played for me in Moodle. Does it not for you? What internet browser are you using?
@charheel the PowerPoints look to be it. I have mixed emotions about it. But mainly because it’s different. The slides are probably a summary of the book he use to be allowed to you

@marco Cool. And agreed but only one topic and discussion post due those weeks so hopefully the workload balances. And with sunday due dates, that leaves me the weekends to catch up on the case if need be.
agreed with @socal there is not enough time to rely on google for vines exams. Either you comprehend the material or you don't. And he is the self proclaimed king of partial credit. So going ahead and taking the time to set up your excel formulas in advance will help in doing that.
To all first time students, good luck on your journey! To all the final term students, only 7 weeks left! To the rest of us, HANG IN THERE  :dude:
P.S. who all is in MKT701-Darrat? Now that the topic material has been posted, this may not be as overwhelming of an experience as I thought. Just a lot of writing which is a nice change to my quantitatively heavy summer classes (Acct, Econ and Fin).
