Registered for ACCT 701 and MADM 760 for spring AP1. Taking MKT 701 alone spring AP2. Any comments, concerns, suggestions? TIA!!

I took MKT 701 with Fin 701 and was definitely doable. I am paiting 760 with ISDS 705 and is also very doable. By doable I mean get As in both classes with some work. I think that MKT 701 depends a lot on the professor as I had Darrat not James.

Can anyone send me the syllabus for FIN701? I registered for FIN 701 in January and would like to start reading the materials during the winter break. My email address is htrinh@avanir.com. Thank you!

I do not see where Acct 701 is being offered in the Spring. How were you able to register for it?

I signed up for ISDS 715 Project Management.

Anyone else dumb/brave enough to take a first year course?

I doubled it with FIN 701. Collectively, they will be my last classes in the program. Not going to lie, I'm a little nervous pairing an unknown but I'm ready to be through.

lltl4hlm2, if you are logged into mylsu it will only shoe open/available classes. ACCT 701 is full for AP1 so it doesn't show up. If you search through This Link you can change your search to include "Class Status: All" and it will show all classes, even those with no seats available.

@Aurebelman, I'll be in Project Management with you! I also plan on taking MADM 730 which I think is another "new" course - Menon is the instructor. Has anyone had any good/bad experiences with Menon? I'd love to hear your take on his teaching style. TIA

@Iltl4hlm2 Try emailing your program coordinator, she may be able to manually put you into that class if you really need it. "May" is the key word tho, good luck!

They may open another block of seats for ACCT so keep checking. ISDS 705 was full for a while but one day I checked and there were 99 seats added.

Yes, I'm taking both. My first pairing of the program and hopefully a wise one. I would love to get a jump start on reading during the break -- it would be great if we get access to the syllabi before then.

I was hoping to take ACCT and FIN as well, but ACCT filled up before I could get in. So now I'm taking Fin701 and Mkt710. Fin701 has syllabus and a few other docs on Moodle if you want to log in and check it out there!

It is rough! Entirely too much crammed into each week. I believe students would actually be able to learn something without the Application assignments. Those are basically just fluff for the class to add work. I have enjoyed to simulation a lot and the test are fairly easy as long as you read through the assigned chapters for the week.

Guys!

I am an IT guy, studied calculus-I & II, Marketing, Statistics, Algebra, Economics like 15 years ago. I need some advice in brushing up a few things before I start my MBA journey at LSUS.
Do you all recommend me brushing up on Excel, calculus, statistics, economics, and accounting before I start? Or maybe just excel/accounting?

I dont want to obsess myself and consume myself into them in depth, but just enough where I can hit my MBA running.

Do people with non-business degrees normally start with the foundation courses here at LSUS? I dont want to spend more money and time than I must. Or do you recommend to just use Khan Academy or something similar and spend maybe 1 week a topic and I should be fine?

TIA!

IT guy as well. I took the Foundation courses, had to because of my bachelors not requiring it. In my opinion, don't do them. Jump straight into the core courses. I feel like I've wasted a term because I had to take the 2 required foundation courses and you don't get credit for them.I ended up with an A in Econ705, A in Acct, and a B in FIN701. It's all about studying and applying yourself.

If you have any background with those, I'd bypass foundation courses. I would definitely brush up on Excel if it's been awhile. Definitely useful for ACCT/FIN/ECON. I would use the weeks prior to session to get ahead in the readings. Good luck

@mbapilot, I'm an IT guy as well, in my fourth class of the program. I finished my bachelor's degree in Business in 2001. If you're serious about being a student and getting the MBA (which I'm sure you are), just jump into the courses. Once you get into the swing of things, you will be fine. Work ethic and maturity will take you far in the program. I've had some hectic weeks working full time, being a husband and father of four, and tackling a course, but it's definitely doable. Good luck!
