A young woman I used to work with has been going out to my country property by herself at random times - picking thru the gardens, sitting on my porch... basically hanging out by herself.

Her background:

hard worker
5'2"
blond
very cute
tomboyish
tons of guys after her
boyfriend in jail

lost her father and youngest daughter recently
may view me as somewhat of a father figure

always wears tight shorts and skimpy clothing around me

I've never slept with her or come on to her - way too much drama for me

I enjoy talking to her and hanging out with her for short periods of time

She's had surgery for a weird condition in her hip and had to take off work

Lost her home

I've known her casually for about 5 years now

Basically, I went out to property today and found her just wandering around - going thru an old barn. I told her we need to have a talk about what's going on here. She agreed and is coming out next week to talk. I understand the trespassing laws and nicely told her she doesn't have an implied permission to be on the property but I'd like to have a serious talk with her.

How would you handle this? I don't want to crush the poor girl considering she may have some kind of father figure thing going with me.

All opinions welcome - I may actually get some good ideas here...oooooor, maybe not.

Why didn't you just talk with her there? Seems like she needs some people to help get her on the right path.

Possibly depressed.

Ask her what is going on. Just be straight forward. Don't jump to accusations or anger.

Prayers sent for when her bf, whom she's been casing your property for, gets out of the joint.

Tell her that she can absolutely go out there, but to just give you a head's up on if and when she will be going. Probably talk to her a little bit, ask how everything had been going, and basically get closer to her so she will feel comfortable talking to you. More trust will be built that way, and it'll benefit both of yall. It probably won't work, but try and steer her in a better direction. Get her a new job, help her find a place to stay, get new phone #, etc

Doesn't sound like you mind her being there so much, but it does sound like you're worried what will happen to your stuff when her BF gets out of jail.

There is a barrage of trouble around the bend. I'd do whatever it took to get away from this. It's a mess. Help her out but I'd be slowly moving away from this impending trainwreck.

Needed information: how did she find out about/gain acces to your property and what is the nature of your work relationship?

I understand that it's your property and there is a liability factor involved in just letting her wonder around, but be gentle. She sounds as though she doesn't have much left in life and probably is very confused and lonely. You may be able to help her turn her life around?

That is complicated. People always say oh it's complicated but it really isn't. This is truly complicated.

If you are friends with anyone in the sheriffs department, give them the brief recap you gave us. If anything should happen to you or she later claims something happened to her, you have someone in law enforcement that knows your side.

If you do not have them join you for the discussion, you need to record it.
