Onkyo, HK, Denon or Yamaha

I currently have and old (15 years) HK pro logic receiver (AVR-10) that works perfectly.
I've been thinking of getting a new one that has HDMI switching so I dont have to unplug the source to my projector.
I'm leaning Onkyo, they've always made solid stuff. But part of me likes that the HK has lasted as long as it has. OT's thoughts? I am looking at the 727 or 828 series Onkyo's
I have Paradigm Fronts and a HSU research Sub

I have had all. I think I like my HK best, but you can get a nice Yamaha for a better price.

I had the Onkyo 600 series that was absolutely great for me for about 10 years. I finally started looking at new receivers because the Onkyo lacked HDMI inputs. I ended up with the Denon 3312 and it is amazing so far. I have had the Denon for a little over a year and half with zero problems so far.

Ive had an Onkyo 500 series for probably 12 years now and it has been great. I plan on upgrading soon only because it's 12 yo and want some of the newer features offered these days with receivers. But all you listed are great and probably can't go wrong with either.

I have an Onkyo I love. Dad does too. I've messed around with several before and I would probably rank them:
Onkyo
HK
Denon
Yamaha
But you really can't go wrong.

Easy choice.
Denon. More reliable. Better amps and configurability.

my first one was a denon but it would randomly turn on and off. I sent it back for warranty repair and it came back in worse shape and they said nothing was wrong with it.
since i had a projector and didnt want to go without tv I ordered a onkyo to replace it. onkyo worked great.
I called denon support and the guy tried to blame my speakers for the problems.... which I replied, its working fine with my new onkyo. So I just said frick them and kept the onkyo which has been working fine.

HK all the way. Then again I work for Harman so there is a bias.

Love my Denon but Ive heard great things about all of those brands. You should be good either way. Just find the best price for the once that has all the features you need.

Denon is releasing a new upgraded line in a week or so that supports HDMI 2.0. It is the new AVR-SxxxxW series.

I've had a refurbished Onkyo for about a year now. It's my first surround set up but I've had 0 issues and I've been more than satisfied with its quality.

in the HDMI era? no way. Onkyo (heat failures) and HK (hdmi issues). Onkyo is so unreliable lately. Even when you send a unit in for repair, the fixed unit will still fail soon. Ask anyone with an x08 series receiver.

I'm currently using a Yamaha Aventage RX-A820. Previously had a Pioneer VSX-1120 which was also nice, but found the Yamaha for $230 at best buy open boxed, so I couldn't pass it up.

Denon all the way. Audyssey makes up for a lot. Throw Marantz in there also.

Beware on the 2014 models. Pretty much all the major manufactures had a bad batch of HDMI boards. I believe Yamaha was the first to catch it and rectify it. the others are still having issues

I have an Onkyo TX-NR509. The audio board went out a couple months ago (28 months after purchase, came with 24 month warranty). Thankfully, Onkyo did a one time out of warranty repair. I like it. Do you want any smartphone integration?

i bought a bottom of the line onkyo about 8 years ago that is still running fine today and hasn't given me 1 problem ever. my next system will be another onkyo

No doubt there have been a lot of issues but my TX-NR708 has worked flawlessly for 3 years. I hope it's not a ticking time bomb. When it does fail my next setup will be seperates.
