Tulane formally presented its new head baseball coach and staff yesterday. He is bringing all his assistant coaches to Tulane from Sam Houston State . With three consecutive regional appearances out of the Southland conference, nine years coaching experience working with legendary coach Wayne Graham at Rice and lastly with new scholarship packages from theTulane administration, Tulane will shortly be joining LSU and UL-L in regional, super regional and CWS play similar to the pre 2008 period. Count on it.

Not sure this post is very level headed. Considering Tulane had a losing record this year I wouldn't exactly be guaranteeing CWS appearances anytime soon. But ya know, that's just me.

They were elite in 2001-2005, 2 CWS trips, 3 Super regionals and 5 regional appearances in 5 years is elite.

As for him leaving for Rice, I wouldn't be shocked but I don't think it will happen. In 5 years Graham may still be there.

If 2 World Series victories over a 5 year span makes a program elite, then there are a lot of elite programs.

Right now there are 6 teams that have gone to 2 or more CWS from 2010-2014. Is that a lot of elite teams during a 5 year period?

At least a few of those teams haven't gone to 2 CWS in a 5 year period. Going twice and winning two games is tougher than going once and winning two. Going to the CWS twice in 5 years and also being a national seed twice says more about the program. Also Some of the teams you listed were never national seeds. Tulane was one twice in 5 years. Disagree with the elite label or not, it was pretty damn close during that 5 year stretch.
