This should be an interesting court battle. He makes a strong case.

Geeze, that's a name I haven't heard in a while. What fricking rock did he crawl out from under?
I can only hope his reemergence doesn't frick up the senatorial election as he did when he chose to run against Mary.

Jenkins is a crazy fricker but he's got a point, such as including the railroad land in the annexation to keep it contiguous without the railroad's request to be included.

And to think , he lmost beat Mary!

How does Woody Jenkins have standing to file this petition? What harm has come to him?

He provided that in his lawsuit.

I'm glad someone got the ball rolling on this. There were going to be lawsuits anyway so why not get them started now?
I have not heard if the AG's office has issued an opinion about the validity of the signature petition since the annexations. Has anyone else heard anything?

I don't know if he is going to win or not; however, when you look at the annexation on a map you know it was done for one reason and one reason only and the people pushing to have it done didn't care as long as they secured their tax revenues.
The result is more Swiss cheese city, but they didn't care.

Agree.

What's he suing for then? What damages is he requesting? Why can't you just tell me rather than avoid answering if you know the answer.

The suit, filed against the Metro Council and the City of Baton Rouge early Thursday morning, claims that the annexation creates a burden for law enforcement and “fails to meet the requirements of reasonableness” because it excludes anchor stores at the mall and was drawn around other properties.

St. Georgians just looking out for their #1 interest, tax money.

Dude, the lawsuit is listed in the original link.
It might help if you read it before arguing against it.

None of that would seem to establish Woody's personal standing, though.

That's my point. I read the link. Law enforcement "problems" have nothing to do with harm caused to Woody Jenkins.

In the lawsuit...
quote:
Plaintiff, who is a citizen of Baton Rouge, owns three tracts of land and three houses in Baton Rouge. He pays more than $7,000 a year in property taxes. He resides in a "high crime" area and has recently been a victim of crime and would be particularly affected by any reduction in police or fire protection services...

snip
quote:
The plaintiff has a very real interest in police and fire protection provided in high crime areas in the inner city. He objects to any action that would divert vital public safety services that are already stretched very thin to a remote area that is already well served by the Sheriff but that could consume important resources of the City of Baton Rouge that would be better spent protecting citizens where crime is the highest.
In short, he says "BR can't fricking do its job right as of now BEFORE they start trying to grab areas already serviced by BRPSO and St. George. That raises the chances I get killed by some assholes while waiting for the cops to arrive."
