The last meal I had there was the most expensive meal I've ever had in the US. The tasting menu with wine pairing. It was good, but not THAT good. I can't remember anything that really wowed me, so I guess I shouldn't be shocked by them closing. I haven't had any desire to go back. There are just so many other options that I enjoy more and are way less expensive. They substituted the port for the ex without hesitation though.
I would have gone back on someone else's dime in a heartbeat though.
I went once on Halloween night in costume before going out. We were in fancy costumes. That was a blast.

$200 for a 5+ course price fixe is a rather standard price. Per Se is currently ~$300 w/o wine pairing, Eleven Madison is $230, Brooklyn Fare is $255 (although this a 20 dish meal), etc.

Makes you wonder how R'evolution will fare during the long, hot summer.
Seems it's made it through several long summers. It's open for lunch W-F and for brunch on Sundays. It also has a separate bar menu and an appealing bar area, in my opinion.
I always wonder how restaurants open only at night manage to stay in business, unless they get a lot of catered party business in addition to the regular dinner flow. R'evolution probably gets party or large group meal business due to location.

Neither Per Se or Eleven Madison are serving anything close to 5 "courses" for that price.
But the main difference is that those are world class restaurants with world class chefs - and world class service.

So you're comparing Stella's prices to two restaurants that have SIX Michelin stars between them?

... And world-class rent.

In NY and San Fran, of course.
In Nola, no.

Pushing boundaries isn't enough. For $200 per person at Root, etc. it's gotta have super delicious food plus out of this world service at its core.
That's why I'll remember Alinea for the rest of my life, above all else.

To be fair, I've had conversations with plenty of fine dining chefs and burn out is very common. It could just be he and Tanya were over it

I don't know too many people who have gone to Root, but one specifically told me that she went home hungry, and the "Fois-li Pop" was one of the most ridiculous desserts she'd ever eaten.
She was on a date and didn't spend a cent - some OT balla took her, I suppose.

Looks like the bankruptcy rumors were true. Stanley filed Chapter 11.

I'd really like to Boswell in a more casual setting, doing small plates and interesting food, but in a relaxed atmosphere.

I loooove Stanley's, hope they stay open!

Did someone really do that??

Yep. At Stella. I think someone had posted a video of it here.
