Or am I missing the point completely?

Saying this stadium is for Tulane Football a Trojan Horse?

Was the real objective concerts and non-football stuff?

If so, the neighbors are going to raise hell, because they were lied to and bamboozled.

I agree. It's something they can claim is theres.

taking a shuttle or the street car to the Dome to see a game is not ideal.

Walking to a game, tailgaiting, bar hopping after, all in a few block radius will draw students, whether they like football or not.

I could care less about those rich whiny babies that live on Audubon Place and around the stadium.

But I hate the athletic administration at Tulane a lot more and would love to see this blow up in their faces (if they did in fact lie to the neighborhood about the true purpose of this thing).

What's this stadium hold, 20,000?

I think they said 24-25K seats, standing room only 30K

quote:

And let's say 20,000 people actually show up- where will they park???

check out their plan for it

quote:

They said they built this because Tulane students werent going to the game because they "had to go all the way to the Superdome". (which is a giant 2 miles from campus)

Folks- the Superdome is a world class facility, air-conditioned for those hot September and October games, and Tulane provided a FREE SHUTTLE for all students between the dorms and the Superdome. Tulane students won't go to these games because THEY ARE NOT FOOTBALL FANS.

It happens everywhere (not just toolame) pitt's attendence went down when they left campus. Miami well you know. UCF had huge attendence jumps when they went on campus. Being on campus just makes the college football experience.

I think it will be a positive for Tulane. 25,000 people in a stadium with a capacity of 30,000 is a lot more fun than 25,000 people in a stadium with a capacity of 70,000. And the Superdome is clearly the home of the Saints, not of Tulane.

Having the stadium on campus will definitely encourage students to go. Will be interesting to see how the parking works for people who drive to the games.

The same neighborhood that used to house a stadium that held 4 times as many people, which hosted Saints Games, Sugar Bowls, and Super Bowls?

Tulane went before the city council to get this approved- and that was the guarantee they gave.

They promised the primary focus was Tulane football, and that other events would be restricted to certain dates and over at certain times, noise level concerns, etc.

Let's see if they keep their word.

Yes, they were bamboozled into buying property next to a university. How dare a 13,000-student campus have noise and traffic.

too say you are not a NIMBY, you sure sound like a NIMBY. Wouldn't they have to get approval for other events. I think somebody said on ye olde green wave that the field was too small for MLS so you don't have to worry about that.

personally i think it would be awesome to live to something like a college football stadium?

Just plan ahead during football games and you have no issues.

I would love it, tailgate every home game in your front yard. Just stock up on food and beer earlier in the week.

Other than the first game or two, it's not like the stadium will be filled. Those people can move.

And, before the West Upper Deck was rebuilt, Tiger Stadium had similar blind spots right around the old pressbox. When I was at LSU, all student seating was general admission. So, whenever it looked like it was going to rain, our group of friends would get to the game real early, wait in line (usually at the front), and make a dash to the West Upper overhang. Of course, we would go tape all of our alcohol under those seats the night before. There were a couple times when we sat in those blind spot seats. But, we never got wet!

There is a party deck. And the student section is in the end zone.

I don't have the seating chart in front of me right now, but I can assure you that there are no blind spots.
