Because miner goes out and recruits the best paler who get drafted and then tells everyone how greta the class is. The a month or so later, 90% of them take the pro offer!!!!!!!

Then miner gets on TV or LSU friendly NOLA.com and whines about players wanting to turn pro.

Getting really old....look at UoL and even SLU...we are not even getting the best players in Louisiana.

all of this is untrue. all elite programs have guys forgo college ball. it's the nature of the beast and has been forever. PM has done very well balancing his recruiting. He finishes with a top 10 class every year, and this refers to the guys who actually come to college. and all coaches dislike the system where guys have until august to sign. i would too when you're trying to manage a roster and dealing with the roster limits in place now that weren't under skip bertman.

also incorrect

The fact that we did not have great hitters this year is not the fault of the bats, seams on baseball or Javi....it is because Paul Maineri is a lazy incompetent recruiter.

that's just false, all of it.

I just posted something similar in my thread above.

We lost a ton of our 2012 team. Maineri over-thinking the regional final sucked, but all things considered 46 wins and another SEC title is nothing to be ashamed of.

I don't mean to come off as "class half full", but I think it more along the lines of being a realist

it wasn't the lack of offense that ended our season

How many runs did we have Sunday night when Mainieri had to decide whether to send out a Bouman for a 7th inning, or go to the pen? Answer, 1. Houston was deep into their pitching and playing their 4th game of the weekend. How many runs did LSU score in 4 innings after Houston tied the score in the 8th? Answer, 0. How many runs did LSU score off of a completely depleted UH staff playing their 5th game in 4 days? Answer, 2.

Our scoring offense has faltered for the last 5 years when it mattered most. Hint, Hoover ain't where it matters most.

in fairness, after a great start to the game Monday, when you give up 7 runs in the third and are down 9-2, in today's game where runs are much harder to come by, that type of deficit is nearly impossible to overcome. The players knew it and played like it. The entire life was sucked out of Alex Box and the dugout. I blame that lack of production on PM putting in the worst pitcher on the team and getting us in a hole like that more so than the hitting. Also, maybe I'm alone here, but I thought we were making great swings Sunday the entire game. We were hitting the ball hard, just right at people. That's just baseball sometimes.

I can give an excuse for Monday, but the points about Sunday are valid. We hit like crap in Omaha last year. The Super Regional loss two years ago was in big part because our offense couldn't score runs on mediocre pitching that gave up double digit runs in both of their CWS games.

If PM has a fault lately it is exchanging too many outs, we need more than 1-2 runs in our BIG innings. That works well on a Friday nite, but Sundays need more offense.

No, no I don't. Don't take bouman out after the 6th and we are still playing.

You guys speak with the certainty Cartwright did, hindsight is just that.....and I think he made a mistake pulling him. But I looked through the game threads of the Bouman starts, the ones where he was pulled and relief shut em down. No one was bitching when it was working

K. We're just gonna ignore the 8-game win streak and SECt title that put us in position to host and be a top 8 seed? You're pathetic.

This is really easy to say. I wasn't crazy about the decision, but you sure seem certain about something that you have literally no clue about.

ETA: And you're not even an LSU fan. Even worse you're a goddamn Ole Miss fan. You can take your bullshite and frick off, runt.

Most of Skip's insights were spot on. Did you hear him say "It's a Country Club game now." Hilarious.

Skip changed the landscape of Colllege Baseball especially in the SEC. He proved, if managed correctly, it could be a money maker. The fact is Skip was not able to hire the coach he wanted after Smoke. If I remember correctly, Skip tried to get Tanner, Bianco, the Vanderbilt coach, etc. All those universities ponied up or they turned Skip down. CPM was on list but towards the bottom. No offense to him, he does a decent job, but he was not Skip's top choice.

That was Houston's closer we were facing I believe. That wasn't a down the list pitcher in the bullpen.

Our offense wasn't great. But, it was significantly better than what we were seeing through the first half of the season.

Giving up 7 in an inning can do that to a team.

But, if you are going to gauge the pitchers we rolled out on Monday vs. the lineup we rolled out...our pitchers were inferior.

Very honest and accurate post. People that are casual fans have asking me what happened. I told them the last couple of weeks were the exception not the rule.

Maybe that should be a lesson to people who think we could fire PM and simply snap our fingers and get any coach we want.

Exactly, PM is a top notch choice. It would be just a handful that would or could prove to better

No, you're absolutely right. This team over achieved its arse off near the end of the season and especially in the SEC tourney. Really great season for this squad. Did way better than I thought they would.
