They had good sheets at a decent price -- $20-$30 for a queen sized set. They're a lot nicer than the sheets we bought at Target as a wedding present for $60 a set.

That hot dog is the best lunch/dinner deal in town. I can feed all three of my kids a foot-long, quarter pound hot dog with a drink for $4.50. They think it's a special treat when they don't have to eat veggies.
Costco has 7 locations in Portland. They only had 1 in Jacksonville, and it wasn't very convenient. We still belonged and would shop there once a month, or so. Now it's a couple of times a week.

Bacon, American Vodka and Laundry Detergent are incredible deals.
I second the chicken tortilla soup.

Good call on the fresh produce.
It is always very good except the boxed lettuce, spinach etc... That room is too cold for greens like that. I've gotten a few that look like they froze in parts and then melted.

The tequila is really good for 1 lt for $20 and the Margarita mix is made with sugar and not cane syrup.

At ours in Virginia, you can get the pulled rotisserie chicken breast meat in a big arse bag that you can freeze. Makes great sandwiches
Birthday cakes/cupcakes kick arse too
There is a container of pulled pork that is very good and smoky.

Granola - Quakers. You get a shitload of it for $7 and to get that same amount at Publix, you'd have to pay $20.
Chicago Popcorn mix - Huge bag of cheese popcorn and caramel popcorn. All natural ingredients. $6.
Casamatta - IGT wine. One of the best wines I've ever had store bought and it's $6.
Kalamata olives - Huge jar of olives for $8.
Pretzel Crackers - $5 and a bunch of pretzels which pair perfectly with my favorite buy at CostCo...
Pepper Jack cheese - 2 pounds of Cabot pepper jack for $7.

Re: Kirkland k-cups
Portland Bold dark roast. Very good. Cheaper per cup than Donut Shop or Tullys and better.

I know that you can buy liquor at Sam's without a membership. I think it's illegal in Louisiana to charge membership fees for alcohol purchases.

They have a Chicken Noodle Soup that is made in the store I think (usually has 4-6 serving I think) that is freakin amazing. I don't know if that counts towards your kirkland items or not, but it's still worth getting
They HAD this. I don't know if it's a winter thing or what. But I miss it so much. It's amazing! It's been replaced by some sort of pasta salad.
Edited to add:
Vodka, tequila, toilet paper, paper towels, macaroni and cheese (the in house stuff that's near what used to be chicken noodle soup), tuna (fresh not kirkland of the sea), kirkland zyrtec knockoff whatever it's called is an amazing deal, sometimes coffee.
I don't like the kirkland "diet coke."

You have 8 items you like and one that you don't like. The consensus seems to be that Costco has a lot of stuff that people like (I concur).
Are there any items that you have tried that aren't as good as their competitors offerings? Things to avoid?

Not Kirkland brand, but they sell a bag of dark chocolate with roasted pumpkin seeds that's off the charts good. Sounds kinda weird, but it's amazing!

It's cheaper than that. 1.75L for $18.xx. Hell of a deal.

You can get the unaged (silver) for much cheaper. I like it aged...

How's the wheel and tire selection
Every month I think they have a coupon for tires in the coupon book that gets sent in the mail. It usually will rotate each month as something like $50 off Bridgestone and $50 off Michelin. Free rotate and balance for the life of the tires

Decent selection. At lest at the one in new orleans, they don't have the cheapest tires available, but for the tires they do have they are cheaper than your local tire stores by $10-20/tire. They usually run a $50 off a set of 4 tires a particular brand every month.
Of course you get the standard lifetime rotation, nitrogen filled tires, etc.

Yes! We recently bought a set of king size sheets from them. About $35-40. Best set of sheets we own.

I really like their frozen salmon fillets and tilapia loins. They have beautiful fresh salmon but I can't justify buying a whole salmon fillet when I'm only preparing two servings.

Totally agree. I wasn't complaining, just stating that it's the only kirkland offering I don't enjoy. Even the cans are somehow sub par. But again that could have been a bad batch.
