Sure, Yoda's lightsaber duels with Dooku and the Emperor were badass and were highlights of the prequel trilogy, but that still doesn't change the fact that they went against everything we had come to know about Yoda.

So you expected the leader of the jedi order to knee before the sith lord and accept defeat and death.

You know nothing of star wars and the jedi.

That CGI was garbage. Too much CGI takes me out of a movie faster than the terrible dialog and annoying characters.

Well see to me, I'd rather have good cgi than terrible looking practical effects. Lots of effects from the 70's and 80's just look horrible now. Seriously go back and they look terrible.

Granted, terrible looking cgi does take me out as well, but people complaining about CGI in modern movies are just laughable to me. You are complaining about something fake in a fake movie. Really?

This is just laughable and insane, but hey that's your opinion.

I'm not a big sci-fi fan. I grew up with the Star Wars movies and to me, those hold up better than most other sci-fi movies. I think CGI has become a crutch for a good movie in terms of story line and visuals. They throw more and more random shite and flashy effects on the screen. It seems to work for the generation they are targeting who are wowed and impressed by it all. It's perhaps a generational thing. Chaotic and layered eye candy above substance in my opinion.

Give me Dark Crystal and RoTJ over Iron Man 2 any day.

People are paying for production values too. Game of Thrones has better production values than Star Wars and it's on cable. I'm not going to pay $10-15 for a movie ticket if they can't give me some visual stimulation that I can't get at home.

When the Star Wars movies came out, they were the pinnacle of visual spectacle. That was part of their larger appeal (along with an easy to access story among others).

But you are a Baby Boomer so everything in your youth/coming of age years is better than anything before and since, so this will go nowhere.

No, they should have stayed with the battle of the minds motif they had started with.

Them guys had lightsabers. You can't fight a gotdamn sith who has lightsaber with your damn mind. Yoda was a pacifist but he recognized that some times, you gotta throw down.

What's funny about that (for those who don't know) is that that is the holographic chessboard inside of the Falcon. JJ doesn't seem to be as uptight about some minor set photos being released.

not everyone hated them. For me, ROTS was the third best Star Wars movie.

I agree. ROTS was really good outside of the "NOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Sure, there were some serious flaws, but it was entertaining and exceeded my expectations.
