Private in LA definitely.

Public in certain areas of Houston, public. Granted, the private are likely a little better but insanely expensive ($20k+/year).

My kids go to an outstanding public school with elitists demographics. Hell, I'm the trash here.

I guess it depends on where you live, but I wanted my kids to have a Catholic education.

The school needs to be well ranked. I prefer public schools, my opinion of private school kids are they end up spoiled children that think they are entitled to a better life. The public school system would have to really suck for me to send my kids to private school, if that was the case, I'd move to a better school district.

Public school is fine and cheaper and serves the same purpose if you sign your kid up for AP classes. This get them into the classes without the dumb shits who do not give a shite. You feel me sukkah?

Depends on where you live.

Anywhere in Louisiana? Private

Houston or Dallas suburbs? Public

All things being equal I would rather not pony up 8K a year for my kid to fail 4 th grade.

I paid private tuition for the better part of 20 years. I'd pay it again without question.

In South Bay I would go public. If you move to east bay that would obviously change.....but between Saratoga and Cupertino the public schools there rival most of the country.....lastly, your children probably won't get into UC regardless so save your money for out of state tuition.

I live in a nicer 'hood, complete with a prominent tax base, paved roads, and a quality, accountable school system. I have no need to seek out private education.

This question is worded in a weird way. I don't think there is a preference between the two, I think the preference is about quality vs cost.
