I think the bigger issue is that you are trying to preach to a local team on a message board supporting that team.
There are issues with the Pelicans, but if you think Davis is legitimately the only one who tried on defense, you weren't watching closely enough.. which makes sense, given that you don't root for them. But the pontification will likely not be kindly received.

It really won't. LINK There's no guarantee that we get a happy ending, but the story will be much longer than most people seem to think.
Regarding Kevin Love, nothing is going to happen this summer most likely. The initial rumors I saw were Harrison Barnes and David Lee. I'm not even sure the Lakers would do anything if they won the lottery, they look like they aren't overly concerned with keeping Kobe happy and winning now. Minnesota can take a lowball offer anytime they want, no reason to take one this summer.

The big problem for teams licking their chops over Love is that he will be a FA either next summer or 2016. How much are you willing to give up for a guy that could bolt for nothing? The only teams that make much sense for.a package that both Love and the Wolves like are quasi contenders like GSW, HOU, CHI. They can send away assets and still have enough to keep Love interested if he wants to win.
I would really like to see Love in Washington. It won't happen, but that big 3 would be bonkers.
LA is a wild card. But they might go Riley/Heat style and try to get Love, Durant as FA to go with whomever they draft.

You're wasting the talent on your team. I went to 10 Pels games this year and your coach is horrible. I think the only one who plays defense on your team is Davis. Maybe Gordon will decide he wants to play 70 games this year. Dude is lazy.
Wow another misinformed post
Evans/Rivers/Holiday all play solid D
Ajinca/Withey aren't bad but they're young and could improve lots in that regard over the summer.
EG wasn't really that lazy(even though we don't like him) and performed fairly well.
So please take your misinformed opinions elsewhere.

Do it...get love. Somehow. Love and Davis = domination.
Posted on 5/19/14 at 12:48 am to easy money
That's been throughly discuused on here.
The problem with love on this team is that he's not a true 5 and his D is not very good(2 areas we need help with.
There's also the problem of giving up
too much and having him bolt.
It just doesn't make practical sense to give up a combo of Anderson/Evans or Gordon/and another piece like Rivers for Love+budinger or barea.
People are just too caught up with a big name.
If this was for cousins I'd be a lot more willing

Forget defense......Davis and love would grab 40 boards a game.

Do you think Cousins is a better defender than Love? He might be an inch taller, but Love is much stronger. Both are bad defensively, but have so much potential. I'd prefer a wide body next to Davis, rather than a conventional Center. Especially since Davis has the potential to grow into that position.

The team needs a big name. Davis will be a star. But he is very reserved, like Durant, and will need to grow his personality. I'd love a big name next to him to take some of that pressure off. Evans and Holiday are not going to do it. It's almost too much to ask of Davis right now. Even Duncan had Robinson when he came into the league..

40 boards a game equals less defensive possessions and more offensive opportunities. Essentially, it does equate to some defense.
I know this is not going to happen and I think you are taking my comments too seriously. We will not give up enough to get him and, like you said, there is more serviceable help for Davis needed like a true 5.

I'll give Love this much... he's going about it the right way and the front office *coughDAVIDKHANcough* completely dropped the ball with him.
He's telling them he'll leave via FA yet is apparently giving the team wide latitude with where he can be sent (Warriors, Rockets, Bulls, Lakers, Suns, more). He's also made it clear for a while now he wasn't happy, so this isn't exactly a shock.
He's not being wishy-washy like Howard, trying to play both side of the fence by pushing to go while claiming he's happy there like CP3, or freezing ownership out of his plans while demanding a winner like Lebron.
I don't know if he gets dealt this offseason but him being the only big star who could be traded and a number of teams having assets means there could be a legit bidding war, unlike what happened with CP3, Howard, etc.
Melo was in a bidding war but that was mainly James Dolan bidding against himself.
Utah sold short on Deron Williams to prevent a distraction, completing a deal with the Nets with no public notice beforehand.
Howard's bidding wars fell apart because he kept changing his mind.
CP3's bidding war was limited between "basketball reasons" and the markets he wanted to go to.

No objective discussion?
And I'd love to get some KLove, I don't see why they couldn't make some moves and actually squire him. He and Brow would be amazing together.

These are the people that rile up those anti-EG wagoners.
he played 64 games this year, when the season was lost he sat with an undisclosed injury and was benched the rest of the year. Who's to say he wouldn't have played close to all the last games of the season if we were in contention for a playoff spot?
He's overpaid, but he's far from the worst SG in the NBA. If we could actually pay him for his market price, he'd be a pretty decent player at cost. Unfortunately for us, he had a string of injuries that our staff can't rehab with him on, and we had to pay him max to keep him because it'd make us look horrible if we let him walk when he was the cornerstone in the CP3 trade.

Cousins' defense was perhaps the most surprising improvement. In previous years, he was a lazy defender who fouled too much. He seemed to conserve most of his energy for the other side of the court. While his foul problems remained (his 4.2 PF per 36 remained the same as the previous year), when he wasn't in foul trouble, he was actually quite good on the defensive end, with the Kings about 3.1 points per 100 possessions better defensively with him on the court. While there were still some lazy moments, they were fewer and farther in between, and he even improved his shot blocking in the absence of another rim protector on the Kings. His defensive rating of 101 was by far the best on the Kings, a team with too few defenders already. As the team's best player, Cousins has to lead by example, and at least last season he began to do that.
Cousins is a shade under 7 ft(6'11) and is 270
Love is 6'10 260
AD can grow into a C but why would should he rely on doing that?

Jrue/Tyreke/Ryno can take pressure off of AD just fine imo
We just need an asik or pekovic type bruiser and that'll help immensely.

Minnesota ain't getting anything even.
Also that is probably better than the bullshite the Lakers, Knicks, or Bulls could offer.

McHale drafted Love when he was the GM in Minn., they’ve remained close since. I’m betting he ends up in Houston, the Rockets have several guys to trade away plus they landed a decent draft position tonight they could use in a trade. Peace, Pelican fans!
