I'd worry more about how much can four or five times with solid form. Struggling to finish the fifth with a good spot. Every kid is different some have long arms, some short, thicker chests, and narrow. It all goes into it. Just let him know that no matter how much he lifts it will change over time as long as he keeps working.
I'd worry more about light weight clean with solid form for his age. flexibility is huge for that age.

And here we go!

Want video or something? That's his numbers. Like I said, he's been lifting 3 years. Obviously you can't expect a kid to just jump out there and lift that much.

All kids I know who started lifting in HS started to stunt their growth. They are all shorter than their brothers. My brother lifted in 8th And is 5'7. I waited till 17 and am 5'11

145 was my freshman max. Like others have said, weight isn't important right now. That will come.

Depends on how he has been training and how good he has been coach. No way to answer the question.

kevin steltz was benching 300 as an 8th grader

Not to call you out, but new studies show that there aren't any links between weight lifting early and stunted growth.

he's gonna stunt his growth. He'll be 5'10 forever.

They let a 170lb kid play QB in 8th grade? He's probably the biggest kid on the team. I remember kids over 150 being restricted from carrying the ball when I was in junior high.

Not even close to being the biggest. He has 3 offensive linemen over 6', a couple more on defense.

I'll have to set that up for you. Want me to film his shuttle for you as well? Email?
