Aight. I don't go to school and film his workouts. Only reason I know is they had their end of the year event and tested every lift. I'll see what I can set up.

In 8th grade I did 205. I was way above average.

Nephew is 8th grade QB at West Ridge. He benched 210 last week. Squatted 350. He's 2 inches shorter, 15 pounds heavier. Just as a point of reference for 8th graders in the area. That's after 3 years though, he started lifting when entering middle school in 6th grade.

Yea we started lifting before Catholic in the 6th grade. 210 would have been a LOT for 8th grade, but we probably had a guy or 2 doing it.

If he's starting off for the first time, however, he'll be doing the bar.

An 8th grader benching that isn't too crazy. However, an 8th grader who is a qb and only 170 lbs to be bench 210, 40 lbs over his own body weight, is.

Good form is key. If he starts complaining about his joints, back him off. That's the danger part with kids lifting at that age, their joints are weak from growing.

I had surgery in 9th grade because my muscles were way stronger than my ligaments, and they were tearing them away from one of my knees.

I wasn't there but I doubt it was a 1 rep max. They used to always want us to try and do a 6 rep max for safety. Then they'd add 5lbs for every rep past 1. Didn't want anyone to get hurt. So he probably did 185-190 for 5-6.

I couldn't bench over 200 when I was in the 8th grade but I could dunk! I mean I was 6"5, have never grown an inch since, so it wasn't THAT special but it was pretty awesome!

If that is the case he can bench A LOT more than 210 bro!

That's just how we used to always do it and he's in the same system so I doubt it was just one rep. Like I said, just giving numbers that I was told for OP to reference. Didn't mean it to become a pissing contest, but it's the OT.

I am just saying if you can do 190 6 times you can bench way more than 210!

I'll post his results tomorrow. He just said his last max was 175 bench. 235 squat.

I will vouch for jj27. I'm friends with the strength coach at west ridge. He's telling the truth. I coach at a local middle school who played his nephew. He basically beat us by himself. Very good athlete.
