What do you do to clear your head?

When the weight of it all bears down like the load of atlas, what allows you to breathe?
Is there some task you do to set your mind right?
Some place you go to in order to let the wisdom of the silent ages speak to your weary soul?
A moronic, menial repetition, meaningless to the masses, that soothes you and removes that heavy yoke from your shoulders, if only for a little while?

I have a few strategies.
I really like to do something physical. Going for a run or just shooting some hoops is a great outlet for me. Just turn the ol noggin off for a while and just run or shoot
I also like to watch an episode or two of a favorite show in which I can really wrap myself into the story. The Office is a popular choice. Also, How It's Made is great for it
Music is a great way too, usually because you can find something that goes with any mood. I usually pair this with playing MLB the show. I can wrap myself in the game and the music, allows me to leave reality for a bit
Lastly, especially if I am trying to get to sleep, I play an audiobook with all the lights and TV off. I cannot tell you how many times I have listened through the Harry Potter audiobooks done by Jim Dale. I let myself just listen and fall into the story and watch it unfold in my head. Before I know it I am relaxed and eventually asleep before I know it.

Above all else, running. I'm in no way a runner which is probably why the effect is so strong. Nothing changes a negative mood for me as quickly and effectively as a quick run. Granted if I'm angry there usually isn't pussy involved or that would be the medicine.

I had a good two months where I was in a bad mood and couldn't get certain things off my mind. I joined a rugby team and then did crossfit. I think a community physical outlet that you turn into a hobby is great for the mind, body, and soul.

Free, whenever I have a bad day, or if I'm just in a pissy mood, I listen to THIS song..
I don't know why, but it always makes me forget about whatever it is that pisses me off.. Maybe it's because it puts me in a mind state that lets me feel like I'm at a crawfish boil surrounded by people that I like
Try it, and let me know what you think
