I have had a couple of stihls and they have both worked like a charm for nearly ten years...straight shaft is very heavy duty and curved shaft is lighter and easier to use...

fwiw, just be sure you find some non-ethanol gasoline to run in it and it will last a long time...

My Echo is 18 yrs old...never missed a lick and used hard on a 2-acre yard and some rental properties. It has even survived the Mexican help.

Only repair ever done was fuel line replacement. I think it still has the original spark plug now that I think about it.

I doubt any modern motor will last 20 years; regardless of the Gas, but I still run no ethanol in all my small engines.

agreed...but that is mainly because it is cheaper to replace them than to repair them...

running no ethanol and stabilizer just keeps you from having to rebuild the carbureator every spring...

Stihl is probably the best, but I have had an Echo for at least five years with no issues. Whatever type of gasoline powered trimer you buy, do not use gasoline containing Ethanol.

I've had my Echo 210 for ten years and all i've ever done to it is replace the fuel line.

Whatever brand you use, only put non-ethanol fuel in it with a GOOD two stroke oil if it's a two stroke. At the end of the season, drain all the gas from the tank and then let it run till it dies and pull it over until it doesn't try to start anymore. This cheap azz fuel they are making us use these days turns to sludge when it sits up.

Ive always run my lawn mower and weed eater (echo) with ethanol gas. So far I havent had any problems, Im too lazy to try and find a gas station w/o ethanol.

Anyway, is there an additive that i can use that wiill help and not mess up my engine while using ethanol gas?
