I do. Have vaulted ceilings in a few rooms in my house along with the rest at 9' to 10'. A shite load of heat stays up there in the winter.

We do. You'll be surprised at the savings you can generate by doing this.

The real question is how many people actually know that you're supposed to/can change the direction with change in season?

Judging by this thread, 90% of the worlds population?

I keep mine blowing down year round but I reverse them in my kids rooms. It helps circulate the air without actually cooling you.

I do without fail in every room. I'm frankly surprised at how many in here do not do this. It was just one of those things that my Dad taught me and I guess it stuck. It makes a difference for sure.

I like ceiling fans for one reason, to feel the draft. I don't like them pulling the air up...I figure the disruption of the fan pushing down will stir up the air plenty to disperse the hot/cold air evenly.

I have shot my walls with a thermometer during the winter and summer and the top of them and bottom of them are basically identical in temp

I don't have ceiling fan I have attic fan. Think it runs on 3 phase. Or maybe diesel.

Grew up with an attic fan, the noise they make puts me right to sleep
