Ciron Black's lack of poker skills paid for the Xbox and flat screen in my college house.

I got pocket 8's and called a preflop raise to about 20 dollars.

Flop: Q 8 5 (rainbow)

Player 1 bets $40. I raise to $140. Player 3 who had just sat down with about $350 goes all in.

I think....and I think....and I call. Fool had Q 5.

in vegas down to my last chips on some texas hold em table game at NYNY Casino

got dealt a 3-10 spades, so i folded, but still got to play for the bonus

flop is 89J, all spades, so i'm at least walking away with a flush which may have paid 5:1 on my 5 bucks

turn is junk, river is the 7S, which gave me a straight flush which had a 125:1 bonus or something like that

not the most i've ever won, but it was cool as shite at the time...i was still in college, so that 600 bucks or whatever it was was nice

i also won 2500 online in a multi-table tournament a month before going to vegas

I only insta-call with the nuts. I couldn't believed he was even in the hand with Q 5 with the preflop raise.

I've never understood this logic. How do you know he's not jumping on a bad card for you

Because 20 is a winning hand the majority of the time.

I always hope when guys split 10's that they draw a 4 or 5 and then bust on both of them and turn that one likely winning hand into two sure losing ones.

I don't care what cards I have in my hand or if I have to draw at all in the situation. Also, how do you know he's not jumping on a card that would have given me a 20 or 21?

Splitting 10's is not profitable over the long haul. There's a reason why they have a "book" on blackjack.

No shite! If I saw someone do that I would be SUPER aggressive and just run over them the rest of the night.

Yeah I would've thought for a bit too cause I would question why he was still in the hand and going all in with 350 if he wasn't surehe had the best hand. But then again I've found the intelligence at the poker table isn't very much a lot of times.

You'll have to forgive me for making damn sure I knew where I was at before pushing another $300 in the pot.

ETA: Finished the night up $1500. A lot of money for me at the time.

ETA 2: ....or any time

Yeah, I mean I don't know the positions and pre-flop bets... you said the guy had just sat down, so maybe he's in for only $20 with QQ, but not very likely, and if he did have QQ he probably wouldn't have been so aggressive going all-in. And not likely he'd be in with AA or KK for only $20 pre-flop, so I'd have put him on AQ or maybe KQ, and then you have him dominated.

Either way, nice hand.

worst break i ever had was UNC vs NCSt a few years ago. I had NC St +7.5

Tie game. NC St punts it to Gio Bernard, who returns it for a TD with a little over 10sec left. UNC botches the hold on the extra point and the holder tosses it into the endzone for a 2pt conversion.

UNC wins by fricking 8.

Last night of my bachelor party I took all the cash I had left on me ~$800 and sat down at the black jack table at around 2 a.m. The next morning people were calling around looking for me. I had sat at the table all night and needless to say, I was quite intoxicated. I hadn't been paying attention and won $1000 . In my drunken state, I was making much bigger bets than I normally would. Goes to show that you can't have any reservations. You gotta put down money to win money.

Best:
Was my last night in Vegas and was down to my last $60. Sat down at a $15 Pai Gow Poker table (no fortune), 4 hours later got up and cashed out $1,200. Was absolutely insane.

Worst:
I participate in a $50 Masters pool where you pick 5 golfers. Generally gets 150-170 entries, so the pot is pretty nice. Twice I've led going into the final day only to have my team blow up. First time is when Rory went +8 on Sunday a couple years ago.
This year I had Bubba, Couples, Haas, Scott, Westwood. Was up going into the final day only to choke away 1st place of $6K, and if Couples would have just played par golf on the back 9 would have won $2K for 2nd, ended up missing 3rd by one fricking shot. I still have a sick feeling over that one.
Only saving grace is that I bet Bubba 10-1, but nowhere near enough to make up for what I could have won.

I went to Vegas for a conference a few years ago. The conference ended in the early afternoon and I had a red-eye flight, so I had a few hours to kill. Sat down at the blackjack table at the Hard Rock with $20-$40 bucks. Got up with $300+. I'm the sort of guy who doesn't help them build casinos, so I ended up getting sloppy drunk watching some horrible Mountain West football game in the sports book.

Other option is he could have bet the field, but I sure as hell wouldn't recommend it.

I had to actually ask the Casino Employee what I needed to do to play craps. He told me as a shooter I had to at least put money on the the line. I told him I only wanted to hit or miss. So I put my hundred on the table. He replaced it with a black chip and I was off to the races. Three turns later, I grabbed the chips and cashed out and walked the freak out of there like a champ.

Don't blame others for you playing a -EV game and losing. What they do or don't do with their hand has zero affect on your odds.

Best gambling story... I turned $150 into a comfortable living the past 9 or so years.
