quote:actually i think it's pretty likely. he said the player sat down with $350, so he's probably playing 1-2 or 2-5. a $20 preflop raise is on the high end in 1-2 but very average in 2-5.
maybe he's in for only $20 with QQ, but not very likely

I either came out with a winner or I hit my number before crapping out... I did it three times in a row as a shooter. What is the damn problem here?
Ok you obviously don't know how to play craps. You could have told the story as if it were roulette and made it.

I watched my drunk friend lose a $300 hand by accidentally hitting on a 19. The dealer didn't hesitate or say anything just layed down the card that wasn't a 2. I tried to reason with the her but she wouldn't budge. We both eventually were thrown out. Good times at Hollywood.

So you quit while you were still the shooter? IF you didn't crap out, you were still shooting the dice.

That's fricking bullshite........I've never witnessed a dealer ever do that.

It was complete BS and she just kept saying, "sorry he said hit, y'all can leave my table." I could understand maybe if he was being obnoxious the whole time leading up but he was just hammered and made a mistake. Pit boss sided with her and we were told to leave. Never gambled at Hollywood again.

That sucks. A good dealer would ask "Are you sure you wanna hit on 19?" Good dealers know they're better off helping players, rather than trying to dick them over.

Agree. I have made some bad plays at a Bj table when hammered but stuff like hitting a 14 with the dealer showing a 2. The few times I have been hammered or distracted by some nice teets or arse or something and signaled an outrageous hit, I have never had a dealer just immediately do it.

Btw, I play at PH in vegas all the time. The older Asian women they put at the 10, 15, and 25 dollar tables are often not too friendly. Same goes for the high limit ones at the 100 tables. The friendly ones I like are in the middle pit of 50 per hand tables. There are 4 tables there in a circle in front of the high limit room where I usually play there.

Good dealers have saved me from making much less obvious dumb moves. He probably would've tipped $10 if he had won that hand. He claims he did it on purpose full expecting the deuce

Most I've ever walked out with is $4,000 on blackjack at Harrah's in New Orleans. Played from 11 at night to 6 in the morning. They kept closing tables as the night went on. I started at a $5 or $10 table then ended up on a $25 table when it was all said and done. I would lose maybe 3 hands a shue and win the rest. When I left I was pissed that I wasn't making bigger bets. $50 was the most I was putting down, but that was only a couple times a shoe. I was mostly making $25 bets. I won $300 at IP in Biloxi last Monday. People at my table didn't understand how to play blackjack and were making foolish bets, so I got up and played the dealer head on at 2 deck blackjack. Got up $350 after a few shues and lost 2 hands in a row and cashed out at $300

It seems like I win at every other damn casino, but this one.

Years ago, I was playing blackjack at the Isle of Capri in Biloxi at the same table as these two middle aged skanks. They had the hots for the dealer and must have thought he was playing with his own money. When he would bust, they would say "Oh no Todd, that's too bad!" I had to get up and leave.

Vegas for a bachelor party.
None of my buddies or I are OT ballers or anything, and we were literally playing craps on a laptop on our flight down to learn how to play, but dammit, it was Vegas and we were going to throw some money on the table.
Turned $40 into $200 the first night. Second night turned $40 into about $250.
Sunday afternoon I had to fly home, so we decided to stop and play the $5 table at Circus Circus. This was Labor Day weekend the day after LSU played a depleted North Carolina team that required a miracle to pull off the W. I had a Saints visor on, and a buddy of mine had his LSU polo on. Put $40 on the table, started slow. Had a group of guys across from us that started giving us shite about the Saints and how shitty LSU looked.
And then the bachelor got the dice... An hour and 15 mins later, he relinquished the dice. He started throwing 8,6,8,6,8,9,6,point,8,9,6,8,8,etc. A crowd started forming. One of the guys in our group hit $300 on a snakeyes bet. We had the guys across the table yelling "Who Dat!" The table would cheer everytime we rolled. We made a bunch of money for that table.
They ended up raising the min to $20 before we finally left. The crowd reached the street. There was a round of applause and high fives all around. I turned $40 into $450. I don't know how much the bachelor ended up making, but he was throwing money down pretty good.
By far the coolest gambling moment for me ever. It wasn't a ton of money, but I made enough over the course of 3 days that I paid for all the drinks I bought, dinner at the steakhouse in New York, New York, dinner at Bobby Flays Mesa Grill, and dinner at Texas de Brazil without using my card and still had cash left over.

I was at lunch with Jack Binion, and two other people, at the Horseshoe in Las Vegas in 1995, when the telephone at Jack's table rang. The caller was Steve Wynn. He had a guest at the Mirage who wanted to bet $1 million on the Cowboys to win the Super Bowl the day they signed Deion Sanders as a free agent. The Mirage wouldn't take the bet because losing might cause them to miss their earnings estimates for the quarter. Steve wanted to know if the Horseshoe was willing to take the bet. Without hesitation Jack told him that he would take the bet at the odds offered by the sports book at the opening of the day which were 5/2. The odds dropped during the day to 2/1 after the Sanders signing was announced.
Several months later the Cowboys won the Super Bowl, and the Horseshoe had to pay the guy over $2 million. I asked Jack about it after the Super Bowl, and he told me the guy placed several more high dollar bets at the Horseshoe after making the Super Bowl bet, and he lost about $3.5 million before the Super Bowl bet paid off. Jack also said the guy had referred a few other big bettors, and from then on he would tell everyone about the time he won a $1 million bet at the Horseshoe. Advertising like that is invaluable in the casino industry.

Put my last $20 on a 50-1 longshot and he came in. I met the owner a few years later and he said they were just in it for the exercise day, and didn't bet on him themselves. The horse just decided to run a big race.

What the shite was there to think about? Only one hand beats you.
you must not play a lot. the guy raised 10xBB (i don't know if he was in position or not) but he could easily be holding QQ right there. it's not an easy call at all.
happened to an opponent of mine recently. i was only playing .25/.50 though. with $50. i was on the button with AA and raised to $1.50 got one caller. flop is 8-A-J. he checks i check. turn is 2. he checks i check. river is a 2. he bets $2 i raise to $8 he shoves all in and i instacall. He turns over 88 for a full house. only two hands beat him in that situation but still.

Not that it is any of my business, but how do you know Jack Binion so well?

2 examples of bad losses (those are much more memorable):
I was in Vegas and bet on a random NBA game. I had Denver Nuggets ML or -1 or something. Nuggets were inbounding the ball up 3 with 1 second left and this happened:
LINK
2006 or 2007 I had LSU bball -14.5 against Auburn at PMAC. LSU struggled all game but went on a huge run to lead by 15 or 16 for the last minutes of the game. Auburn, down 16, gets a rebound with about 5 seconds left. Meanwhile Big Baby and other LSU players are walking off the court untucking their jerseys. Auburn gets an uncontested layup at the buzzer to cover.
1 good story from this past football season. I hit about a $2200 parlay with LSU +3.5 against UGA. When LSU got up 14-7 in the 1st half I put $500 on UGA +145 ML in Live Betting. I hit both bets. I was disappointed LSU lost, but the bets cheered me up.
