I wonder what the reaction of this board would be if the incident occurred at a Tea Party Rally protesting the tyrannical actions taken by You Know Who?

Yeah, because some guy is running after him, probably threatening him.

In the eyes of the law, that is assault.

Ya he did, but he dropped it, you don't leave your flag on the ground like that.

Boy though, if the cops would have came out and arrested the two guys, I might have lost the last sliver of hope I had for this government.

You're right. I probably should not have made that assumption based only on a video of a guy running at full speed in a threatening manner. I'll try to do better next time.

No, but there are other laws for that.

eta: I don't mind troops getting angry at stuff like that. In fact, I love that we have troops that do. But serving your country, as the Marine said he did, includes protecting the people's right to protest, even if it is in such a disrespectful manner.

CSB alert but relevant.

Last season at tailgate a fraternity had a flag hung up in their tent. It was right around Veterans Day. I didn't think much about it until later in the day, everyone was very drunk by this point, and some kid had gotten the flag down and was wearing it like a cape and dragging it on the ground. I flipped a lid, ran into the center of their tent and dragged him by the arm out between our tents. I started yelling at him about WTF did he think he was doing, that it was disrespectful, etc, etc.

About 15 seconds in I realized there were about 70 dudes getting ready to kill me. I went back to my tent and they all gathered around while he explained that I was yelling about the flag. They took it from him and want back to their tent to hang it up.

Point being. I was absolutely wrong to commit a battery on this dude as he was well within his constitutional rights. But you know what? There wasn't a guy in that group prepared to defend what he had done.

So there are your Rights and there is being right.

Of course, doesn't stop those committing the act of breaking the law either. Just like social taboos doesn't stop protesters from burning or disrespecting the flag.

No one has the right to whip your arse for making a political statement. Fact.

Your right to free speech doesn't stop them either.

yea this argument is just irrelevant to the situation.

why does whipping arse need to be mentioned? no one got their arse whipped in the video.

it's like you're trying to excuse potential violence against people who disrespect the flag by saying they deserve it
