Lol. No.
Hwy 30 4 lanes from LSU to Gonzales is what you meant.

Respectively, a turning lane on lee after Perkins too just past lee high

you could maybe do it on the side that is heading to the interstate but i think you are basically just moving the congestion to lee high.

Also a turning lane down all of highland

Might be impossible in that area considering how long it takes to do roadwork in BR. The Staring Lane shite has been going on for years and that area had way more room to make a new lane on each side. There simply isnt enough room in that meeting area(Lee/Highland), to make extra lanes without removing a lot of buildings.

You might be able to swing a turn lane and sidewalks on Highland south of LSU ave near campus. They'd have to rework the open ditches.

I think there is about a 65' right-of-way. The problem will be the people that live there.

Also impossible considering the property owners along Highland have a lot more money and sway than the property owners along Staring.

Pretty much, but instead of 5 total lanes, it will be 3 total lanes.

Hwy 30 could definitely be expanded leaving LSU. One extra lane going out would do a great deal and it doesnt seem like it would be that hard to add.

They could do what they did with Burbank and the added turning lanes by Mellow Mushroom. They could make the lanes a little skinnier and add some extra roadway to each side of the existing road. They have plenty of room between the outgoing lane and the railroad track.

Yea they wouldnt be expanding very far down Highland if they tried to do it

There isnt much of a point in expanding a road like that unless the extra lane can keep going all the way to a big intersection. Adding an extra lane in that area will get more people to the red light faster and then will have all those people trying to get back into the 1 lane after the intersection. Would still be a cluster

You say that, but that's not really the case. The place where room matters is where roads cross the RR tracks.

They could obviously do it between Jennifer Jean and Brightside, but there isn't much space at the intersections of those streets, and those are already steep intersections as it is.

Also rumored in the plan to remake Government St is that the intersection at Lobdell, Government and Independence will be converted into a "round about".
hope y'all don't have an aversion to these roundabouts b/c DOTD has really gotten on board with them recently and is currently going roundabout crazy, installing them all over the state with even more coming. personally, i think they're the bees knees, but guys that time signals for a living understandably don't want them.

Why not? Burbank by Walkons flows so much better now.

I know people who live nearby and they drove through it when they did their study. On a Saturday last summer (I think), they used cones and such to make a stretch of government 3 lanes with street parking and a bike path. They said it worked really well. It will be nice to be able to make left turns onto Park and Acadian. I think three lanes could work. It's not like you could "fly down government" before with all of the pot-holes and unsynced traffic lights. Also, if you want to "fly", North Blvd is much better suited for that.

Any type of traffic improvement is immediately met with disgust on this board. I don't really get it.

I use the shite out of Government street and I live very close by it (Capital Heights). I have been travelling Gov't street for my entire life and very often. A continuous three lane was never proposed for such a long distance. It was originally only for the area near BR high.

This is going to be a disaster. There are simply too many side streets and businesses to make this turn lane work.

This with the amount of bikers/walkers is not a good combination.

It doesn't help that nobody in the south knows how to use them. I go down River Road pretty often and have had people come to a complete stop while in the roundabout to let me in. Can see lots of accidents happening when they first put them in busy areas.

Nope, they still haven't done the necessary imminent domain on the properties around Nicholson from Burbank to Lee, they still haven't reached an agreement with the railroad, and they probably still won't put in a left turn lane and signal for cars on nicholson to turn onto Lee/Brightside.

We may all die before any of these things that were needed 20-30 years ago finally happen.
