Actually, YES.

AND one of the sites the consultant is considering is the one owned by Spinosa. I have this on good authority. Just because they hired a consultant has nothing to do with the fact that the property is being considered. The one that is no longer being considered is the one that is part of the Pennington Center at Kenilworth and Perkins. After some back and forth, the Center pulled the offer to sell the land.

Pennington site out

The search for a location for a south Baton Rouge library will continue Thursday night after the Pennington Biomedical Research Center removed itself as an option, saying a library at the site is not in the center’s best long-term interests.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Library Board of Control agreed at its September meeting to pursue the possibility of locating a branch library on the property along Kenilworth Parkway as an alternate location for the long-delayed library planned for the Rouzan development.

However, the board learned late Tuesday that the property is no longer an option, said Spencer Watts, the library system’s director.

Nice. I like the reference. I am guessing the Pennington's would be the Umbrella Corporation?

What does that make Spinosa? The creepy guy who has the head that splits open?

They are going to do something stupid either way.....like pay a fortune for a crappy location and change their mind or pay a fortune to lease terrible space in that really dumpy shopping center where The Caterie used to be.

I still can't believe how ugly the new downtown branch will be.

Why is this decision being dragged out so long if they aren't trying to do something shady?

How does Spinosa have the balls to be seen in public in this town? What a scumbag piece of shite.

He's the ultimate in BR sleaze.

I can't see this doing anything other than creating even more traffic along College from the interstate to Highland unless a major thoroughfare is put through it that links Highland, Perkins, Burbank & maybe even up to Corporate (and an interstate on/off ramp would be NICE).

That major thoroughfare would be 4 laning Lee Drive but since all of you complaining about traffic fight this tooth and nail you have to complain about something. I don't think anyone in Southdowns has the right to complain about traffic.

I'm no Spinosa fan but if anyone thinks Rouzan won't help the overall area with if nothing more, a nice residential area they are in denial. Like a small lot or not the houses are very upscale and larger than most houses in Southdowns.

I liked Whitters pasture back in the 60's and 70's. I like Town Center in the 2010's. We grow people.

Or Geauxld understands land planning and urban development. The Rouzan concept is a good thing. Seems to be the implementation is where it has faltered. This is a pretty big deal that the zoning has been pulled. Lawsuits are about to come flying from every direction.

Good point. I keep forgetting about that. Lee and College is a total cluster frick because they would shite themselves before 4 laning Lee.

And have held the whole city hostage all of these years. Take a look on Lee Drive the houses that would have to be demolished. It's maybe 10 and they are absolute pieces of rental shite.

Lee Drive needs to be 4 lanes, no doubt. There are a several nicer houses that would be affected, but it should happen.

As for Rouzan, I was against it. I think all of the area except for the stuff that fronts Perkins should be A-1. I know it will be developed, but it should be A-1, like Woodchase, not the high density stuff. I am not saying it should not be developed, just that it should not be high density.

The nicer ones sit farther back from the road. Mostly it's just the few from Perkins back maybe block and a half to two blocks and they are eyesores for the neighborhood.
