This started yesterday. I don't recall ever talking about ghosts with her, we haven't watched any movies with ghosts recently as far as I know.

She says they come in through the door handle or "eat the door handle". It seems to be a singular entity as far as I can figure. She says the ghost is her friend and wants to play with her.

Is this just an imaginary friend? Has she been exposed to ghosts through the media without my knowledge, and that is why she can talk about it with seeming familiarity? Just an overactive imagination?

Anyone else dealt with this sort of thing?

Alert the media...use it as a springboard to fame and fortune.

After my uncle passed away, I would find my daughter talking to someone and even had toys set up for Uncle C to play with. She was 3 at the time and this went on for a few months.

This is on the heels of waking her up one morning to get her ready, and asking her if she had dreams, to which she told me she dreamt about my dead brother and told me he died.

Other things too. I'm confused to where it is all coming from.

We've had to deal with similar things with our little girl. But ours was different in that we knew exactly where it came from, she'd watched Scooby Doo over at her grandmother's house. For a week or tow she did not want to sleep in her own bed alone. What we found is that she needs reassurance that the "ghost" is not real. Along with this, it will give her a good sense of security if you reassure her that your her daddy and there is nothing in this world or the next that can come into your home and harm her. Basically, be her knight. Probably not a bad idea to "search" for ghosts under her bed, closets, and the normal places kids are afraid of at night when you put her to sleep. Just make sure she sees you "looking" for these ghosts and reassuring her they are not there.

I wouldn't overreact but maybe log (on paper or in your head) the times she's seeing this figure.

Kids have incredible imaginations but I would express interest and belief enough in her new found "friend" to give her support. Alienating or scolding her could lead to more problems later and developmentally.

She didn't seem to be bothered by it, although she has been complaining of being "cold" lately and wanting me to "hold me tight tight daddy."

I don't think she's scared.

My little girl just started this thing where she is afraid of the dark at night and she wakes up in the middle of the night wanting me to go in her room. I bring her back to her room, put her in bed, and turn her night light or lamp on and she falls back asleep.

I woke up this morning and I went check on her after she did this last night and all her lights were on and she was out cold in her bed. So weird.

When my son was about 3 or so I remember driving down the mountain where my parents had been killed over 27 years before. This was not a road we went down on a regular basis. Right when we got to the spot where they'd had the blow out that sent them over the side of the mountain he nonchalantly says "this is where your mommy & daddy died, right dad?". I'd never told him this and how he knew I was afraid to ask.

If I was a ghost the last thing I'd want to do is be friends with a 3 year old. Creepy shite
