My logic is that Moncrief will likely still be available in the 3rd. The Saints have bigger needs than WR, and to get Beckham you are talking trading up to late 1, early 2. We need CB, OL. Landry has awesome hands and ball skills, but lacks elite size and speed. I would rather Moncrief in the 3rd than Landry. We need someone who can scare defenses with a speed, size combination and Moncrief fits the bill. Lord help us he isn't from LSU...

Just depends on if we get a corner in Free Agency. Payton doesn't to O-Line in the first two rounds. That only leaves WR and OLB and I doubt we go OLB in the first unless Ryan Shazier runs a fantastic 40

I honestly think we might trade back

My ideal situation would be Matthews in the 1st.

I thought the same. Then I saw a stat about how over 40 percent of his receptions were from screen plays. So 1st round pick for him might be a slight reach.

quote:

We have to start with the obvious, Matthews and Watkins’ high percentage of screens. Matthews and Watkins caught 42% and 45.5% of their total receptions behind the line of scrimmage. For reference, the average WR I charted last year caught 19% of their passes behind the LOS.

quote:

17.4% of Cooks’ receptions were deeper than 20 yards; that compares favorably to Terrance Williams and DeAndre Hopkins last year. Meanwhile only 6% of Jordan Matthews’ receptions were deeper than 20 yards, however he caught 22% of his passes in the intermediate zone.

I still think Matthews could be a beast pro receiver, but I would rather draft someone in the 1st round who could make a big impact from the very beginning.

I would love Moncrief in the 4th, maybe 3rd round. He was a straight beast his sophomore year. Had a solid, but nothing spectacular season this past year, but potential is through the roof. I actually thought he would be one of the best receivers in college football before the season started.

I think we could get Moncrief at a better value than Beckham and i think he is a different player than Landry

I think saying Beckham or Landry don't have the potential to be great and Moncrief does is absurd, but they all could be great.

WR is deep enough this year that we can get a quality starter after round 1 so I would prefer to go for another position instead.

Watching highlights on Moncrief and he's impressive. For some reason he went under the radar to Treadwell but his sophomore highlights especially against LSU (sorry) and Moo State were impressive, nice, nice speed and he's big. Could be a steal in the 2nd or 3rd

WR class is so deep this year. We need to go OL or CB first. Find a big physical corner in the Sherman mold. That's what the league is going to now.

Idiots always want LSU players that we have no chance of getting like PP.

I definitely like Moncrief in the 3rd round or so. I wouldn't even think about taking him in the 1st or 2nd, but if he fell to us in the 3rd I think it would be a steal. I liked Odell even before his 40 time, which means absolutely nothing when it comes to actual football, because I think he adds not only a great WR to our team but also a scary return man as well. I'm sure someone will reach though after his combine, he'll probably go around the 17-20 mark. We have bigger, pressing needs than taking a WR in the 1st, IMO.

O-Line is a need but Payton will never go that in the first 2 rounds and we are likely going after a DB InFA

That leaves WR with our first pick. Or an OLB

Not sure how this is a fact when a stud OT could fall in either round.

Just expect the unexpected and you will not be surprised.

Landry just ran a 4.77. Makes guy on page 1 look pretty fricking dumb.
