What did Louisiana Lagniappe used to be?

Me and the Mrs ate there last night for V-Day, and I was looking up at it when we walked in. I've been there like a million times, but just realized it's got a pretty big Mexican kinda architecture vibe on the outside.
What did it used to be, if anything else? And when did it change? Anybody know?

Zorbas. It's been a long while since it changed.

Zorbas and then it became Pasta Garden before it became LA Lagniappe.

I assume they weren't nearly as successful as a seafood restaurant there?
I love it. It's a great place, but they have really shitty parking, and when you walk in, the hostess will always say "It's a 45 minute wait" which is never, ever accurate.
Other than that, I think it might be one of the best locals in BR.

Actually Zorba's had a pretty good business there. I don't remember the details of why it closed.

I heard that the guy that ran it moved.
But he is recently back with some new place. I'd like to try it.

They reopened recently in Essen Mall as Zorbas. Had the best Chicken Shwarma and pita bread i've ever had. Pita were these 4" triangle pieces baked to perfection. And the chicken were larger chunks of breast meat. Hummus was slamming as well.
I haven't been back since they reopened, so I don't know if its the same as it used to be.

Dino is back. His brother is still out of town.

Loved Zorbas. I believe that the owner and his wife went through a very messy affair, and shut it down in the midst of it. Always did a good business, and recently reopened at different location.

Good call. It won in at least / categories in the 225 Magazine "Best of" poll. I think "Best Overall restaurant" and something else.
