Getting rid of beavers, how?

What's the best way? Tons of signs but haven't actually seen them. Should I just hide near the water and wait for them to surface with a .22?

Unless you hire someone to remove them , that's the best way. You'll have better luck at night though.

Wait for a full moon. Just before dark damage there dam so water is running over it. The sound of running water will bring them out and with the light of the moon a scoped rifle will turn this job into childs play.

Sounds like a helluva good time!

Break the dam in the morning......so you get the benefit of the water running down all day.
Use a shotgun and buckshot, or a rifle bigger than .22.
Beavers are tough, not saying the .22 wont do it, I just like them piled up dead.
Check out the area any time you can for feeding beavers, sit near the broken dam at dusk and be prepared to stay a couple of hours, often they'll come out after dark.
The other thing to do is to set Conibears and Snares for them.
Unless you are really committed to doing it yourself and willing to spend some time, the other thing to do is hire a nuisance control guy.

I don't know where the dam is. I'll have to bring the yak and go scouting. .22 is probably the biggest caliber I can use in this location.

Haven't you seen Duck Dynasty?

Any other way just isn't fun.

I'll have to disagree. In the game mammals class at ULM we trapped them all out, stacked the corpses on the lodge, then blew the lodge and dam with dynamite.

take a kayak anchor and use it like a grappling hook to take the dam down from a distance, this probably wont do anything/work at all. In which case take the .22 and wait for them to surface.

First blow up the dam, or any dams that you can find. This will make the area that they can be found much smaller. Once you blow up the dam, that night sit close to the dam and wait. They will come to repair it. Once you hear them working turn on spotlight and start blasting with a shotgun.

OR if you have time to check them everyday, go buy you some Conibear 330 Traps. Learn how to set them....these things don't play and can hurt you bad if you mess up.
Set them around slides close to the den. Check with your local Wildlife and Fisheries. There may be a bounty on them. Most of the time it only requires you to cut off the tail and bring it in and get cash back.

This, but don't catch yourself, my dad had one catch on his stomach one time, he passed out quickly.
Tear a hole in the damn dam and set the trap a foot or two out into the water, tie it securely to a tree and check often. 00 buckshot in a 20 gauge works well too.

sounds like you got off easy
for the op; 330 conibears can be had on ebay for around 20$ shipped. As been said, be careful when setting. Had a friend who was bracing one against his abdomen trying to get the springs to collapse when it slammed shut on his junk.
last part isn't true. but shite would suck if it was.

Do they surface during the day? I was thinking of getting in a climber and using my scoped .22 to pop some skulls.
