Thinking about buying an old jon boat from a buddy of mine. There is no title for the boat and no way of contacting previous owners. Can I legally take this boat out on the water without a title/insurance? There's no motor on it yet but was thinking about getting just a small tiller or trolling moto...

I purchased a used sit in 10ft fishing kayak a while ago and it has worked perfect for ponds/lakes.
