True life. Miserable.
Then again, I had really high expectations. I imagined Rodeo to be huge and glamorous, and it was filthy. I thought the Hollywood Stars or whatever would be beautiful, but they were rusted and homeless people were lying all over the stars.

Absolutely asinine comparisons.
California thumps Louisiana in both categories.

California is a beautiful state. Amazing outdoor opportunities and great weather for the most part.
The people ruin it though. Politics being the main thing. The other is people are extremely vain.
I've visited quite a few times and I would have liked to move over there with a friend of mine but the cons listed above prevent me from doing so.

quote:Dude...really? There are just as many "trashy" people working fast food in CA.
The people in the lower rungs of society such as fast food workers are mostly trash in the south. Not the case in CA.

Your politics are bat shite insane, but it's easy to get away from most of it. Half the state (Geographically) is fairly conservative and has very diverse geographical features. Mountains, desert, cold, heat, surf, etc
California is an awesome state made unlivable by Californians.

There are places in the Central Valley indistinguishable from places in Texas.

quote:I once dated a girl from L.A. who moved to Louisiana. She told me that, not long after she got here, the first time a perfect stranger just casually said "hello" to her in public, it confused the hell out of her because she wasn't sure if it was someone she knew. She was a little shocked, but soon realized that's just how we are. I've visited San Diego and can say that's absolutely true. People in public really don't even look each other in the eye, and are generally very cold and in their own world.
non-neighborly people
The south has the friendliest people you'll ever meet, but we're a shade stupider (on average) than the folks out west, so I guess it's a trade-off. The point earlier about the fast food workers is 100% correct, so I guess it's all about what's most important to you.

But then it's the central valley. Not the "California" that people think of. I love driving thru the CV just to see the sheer volume of food that's being produced. But I'd much rather live in TX than the CA CV.

I think that the level of intelligence is higher in California then THAN in lots of states. Hence the amount of plant workers in south Louisiana vs the amout AMOUNT of people making millions in tech without breaking a sweat. Who's smarter?
Just because I misspelt a word does not mean I'm un-intelligent UNINTELLIGENT. I moved out of the south after all.

To everyone that keeps talking about the people of California ruin California, you do realize that you choose who you are friends with right? I'm sure there are people that you know in Louisiana that you don't associate with and maybe you think that they "ruin" Louisiana.

I wouldn't care to live in a segregated state, like Cali.

If you're wondering why people hat the insufferable douchbagishness of a lot of Californians, take a look at what you just posted.

This isn't a grammar contest. I'm on a phone just making points. I'm sure analyzing grammar and spelling will take you very far in life. Keep up the good work.
