True. I did get annihilated before my wedding at the sazerac bar in the Roosevelt. The Gin Fizz was pretty tasty.

I would suspect most college towns are more hip to the craft beer scene then non college towns.

Really? I'd suspect that beer mavens would be a little older than college kids. Maybe I'm wrong, though.

Y'all need to go to WYES instead. Support the non-profit beer festivals.

Nerdy professors & grad students.

As to the OP: buy singles at Sydney's and walk around with a go cup. Or hang out at the Carousel - they have a decent selection. Or hike to d.b.a.

Johnny Whites on St. Peter across from Ali Baba/the side entrance to Pat O'Brien's has a solid selection, though nothing outstanding. NOLAs, SW420, Canebreak last time I went. 5$ for a 16oz 420 in the FQ is hard to beat

always find it strange that Baton Rouge appears to have a higher craft beer appreciation than New Orleans. More Craft bars (or bars with a large craft selection), and stores than NOLA

More and more places are starting to have larger craft beer offerings. I think a lot of places in NOLA get over looked b/c nothing comes close to A Pub. Take for instance DBA. Not considered a "craft beer bar" but they have a very nice selection. There are plenty of places like this in the city. Decent beer selection but not labeled a "craft bar".

WYES is homebrew festival too, correct? I plan on going this year, since i won't be able to attend zapp's.

Not from my experience, at least here in BR. Not many college kids drink craft. Most are relatively young (30's) professionals.

. Just curious why there is a lack of craft beer in NOLA.

Stores
Stein's
Rouses
Breaux Mart
Martin's
Whole Foods
Nola Brewing Taproom

Bars
Avenue Pub
The Bulldog (Midcity is better than Garden District)
d.b.a.
Cooter Browns
Nola Brewing Taproom
Bayou Beer Garden
Fat Harry's - not my kind of bar, but their selection is decent.

I'm sure I'm leaving some out. It's not great, but it's improving. I'll be excited for Courtyard Brewing to open.

It just seems odd with New Orleans great abundance of restaurants, that there would be an equally great push for craft bars/craft selections. I'd like to see restaurants have a craft beer suggested pairing at some of these places. Same here in BR.

There website was pretty sketchy when i looked at it last year. It was a website for some gay professionals or something.

I think this is considerably off base. Most people who dine in nice restaurants don't drink beer.

I don't know many restaurants in town that tout their huge beer lists, but they do tout their wine lists.

I'm sure it was an oversight, but you left out the Rendezvous aka. The Avante Garde of NOLA beer.

Ryan's Irish Pub is down the block on Decatur (toward Jackson Square).

Industry, as already mentioned, is right across the street and has a better draft selection. Ryan's is basically all the Abitas, Guinness and Hopitoulas. That's it.

also, St. Lawrence has a pretty decent selection, given the neighborhood. the FQ is a wasteland for craft beer.

Add Elio's and Pearl to that list.

NOLA teams up with different resturaunts from time to time to offer this type of experience. Granted it's not an everyday thing but they do exist. I find the Link places are good about having craft beers that pair well.

Yes. Seems like WYES had more homebrews than Zapp's last year. You get a few of the Alabama and Panhandle clubs that come over. Last year the venue was Mardi Gras World. The upstairs was all the homebrew clubs. I went downstairs once to try some of the new LA breweries, but spent 95% of my time upstairs.

Would a bar that carries craft beer be successful in the FQ?
