Rex Ryan when he was hired, Chip Kelley as previously stated, Andy Reid. I'm sure there are plenty more throughout history too.

You were also asked in that thread was is it in his personality that's so detrimental?

And I answered in that thread.

And I'll answer again. It's not detrimental. It's just that some people don't want to be "the man." Some are happy to do their job and let others be the leader.

He's clearly a great defensive coordinator and is bet his players have all loved playing for him. You can just see that he doesn't want to be the main guy.

He's not a young buck for having his biggest coordinating success either

First owners didn't like Vince Lombardi because he was a Sicilian, now they don't like Rob Ryan because he's a clone of The Dude from The Big Lebowski?

frick the haters.

A lot of people have viewed Rob Ryan as a distraction/cancer, even fans on here. But none of that crap is true. Ryan is a good coach with a passion for football. He deserves a head coaching job, more so than his brother Rex.

If RRyan was a minority none of this subject has firm traction. Just the way it is.
Players, coaches, fans love the guy. Why would discrimination against him be so valid?

Name me a black coach that was sloppy and messy appearing. Let alone the sideline faces and loose mouth etc.

I already threw out Romeo Crennel. All coaches have potty-mouth but apparently you're new to the game. Denny Green was another that comes to mind.
RRyan is a giver and very likeable.
That Raiders Coach Cable wasn't very slim - niether was pig John Madden.
The only reason Rob Ryan's career needs to be thwarted is due to lack of performance. I don't see it. Do you?

Rob will hang around NOLA a few years to get a ring.
Then looking to make bank will leave to take a HC job somewhere with a nice guaranteed/buyout clause in his contract and lock up his retirement stash.
I think he will be here a couple of years.

As long as he keeps putting out great D's I hope he's in N.O. a very long time. One of these seasons we're going to see him put forth a Defense that doesn't get so banged up. That'll be scary.

You have failed to give an example of someone that is fat, sloppy, and just so loose and ungroomed physically and mentally that rob ryan is. Let me know when that sinks in.

"mentally ungroomed"?

Now you have me curious as to what that means.

I would think him only having one winning season as a D coordinator would be more of the problem

Obviously, you give him NO credit for playoff games in New England. We all know winning records come from the likes of a DC in places like Dallas, Cleveland, and Oakland. Nice work.

ChadBoy, please explain your continued obsession with RRyan's failed mental state. You wanted fat coach examples - I gave them. Now, give examples of Ryan's mental failings.
I see him as a giver and he's even been complimentary of former teams that have released him.

Florio brought this up a week or so ago...

To date, it hasn’t delivered an interview for Rex Ryan’s fraternal twin brother. It hasn’t even yielded a serious mention for an interview.

It’s unclear why. The obvious — and perhaps most accurate — reason is Rob’s appearance. From the Sons of Anarchy hair and beard to the snake-digesting-a-medicine-ball profile, few owners will be willing to embrace Rob Ryan as the man in charge of the team.

Some believe that Rex and Rob are very much alike, which could both help and hurt Rob given Rex’s periodic antics from past years. Hurting Rob even more could be the belief by some that the biggest difference is Rex “gets it,” making it easier for him to adapt and adjust to the realities of being a head coach in the NFL.
