Their arrogance definitely hurt them. The way this all went down is a huge black eye for them and won't soon be forgotten.

No he wasn't. This whole handling of the Mack Brown situation the last few years is exactly why.

Cannot agree. He is a very, very smart man. He knows how to look at all the angles.

And this shows that he played the smart money. If he felt he could make it work he would have given it a shot.

I would not be too quick to think that this has really hurt UT too much. They still have money, tradition, and a huge fanbase to use as leverage.

It wasn't so long ago (7 years or so) when the whole world was laughing and pointing fingers at Alabama. Pundits, writers, and tons of message board quarterbacks were adamant that Alabama was a clown circus of a program that was not, and probably never would be, relevant anymore. The idea that Nick Saban would leave Miami was preposterous. Alabama was just going to have to settle for another middle of the pack coach and deal with it.

Fact is, Texas, like GM, is too big to fail for long. No, they probably never will get Saban, but they will get their man eventually.

Do Bama fans poison trees? Do Georgia coaches lose control? Do florida fans wear jorts? Do Arky fans frick their sisters? Do Aggies like to frick dudes in the arse?

The condition under which the sips labor is the result of 100 years of a stacked deck that was undone in less than 2 years.

Texas problems go much deeper than Alabama's ever dreamed of going.

Don't know about that but, I do know that whatever money is not at the Vatican is at UT.

What happens if Texas can't get their shite together in the next few weeks and ends up with Mack on the sidelines next year? Does it light a fire under his arse and they get positive results from this fiasco?

Or does the comedy from Austin continue?

A few well connected Texas folks went all in. Done deal. Vatican money. They just assumed they could get whomever they wanted. This tarnish them at all?

Waaaay too arrogant. I was picking up what they were putting down until the Vatican comment, then I realized they were more arrogant than Bama fans and we had the possibility of a great melt if Mack stayed. I was totally unaware of how much UT fans hate Mack until this season.

They shouldn't have made that crack about the Vatican. The Pope obviously sent in that Da Vinci Code squad to scuttle the deal. Nicky gets his soul back as part of the agreement. If you see him able to smile now, you'll know.

Still not sure if they can help Notre Dame though.

No. Texas is just all over the place right now. Way too many people trying to run their program.

The arrogance came from their fans and media who never looked at the thing objectively.

Mack could have had a nice exit, but now I think his image will be completely destroyed. I can't see them beating Oregon and after watching Bama retain dominance next year and Texas in the middle if nowhere people will blame him for not getting saban. Even if it would have never happened they will blame him.
