One thing I know... The last two weeks would have been even more crazy if teams were jockeying for playoff position.
Think of Oklahoma State, Alabama, Missouri, and Ohio State all playing themselves out, while Auburn, Michigan St., and potentially Baylor or Stanford all played themselves in.

Anyone leaving Alabama off the list of the Top 4 teams is pretty stupid because Alabama would be picked over Michigan State or Baylor in a real-world scenario.

Again Baylor has been impressive and I love watching them but have they beaten a top 10 team, not that I'm aware of. They played Okie St an got waxed.
Agreed, there should be a "no arse-beating" rule. If you get your arse beat, you don't get in the playoff. Sorry, Baylor

If Sparty or Baylor had multiple losses or Stanford has 3 or more losses then yes Bama could get in. SOS Bama couldn't touch anyone of the teams that has been mentioned.
As far as 2011, that excuse is null. You had an LSU team that didn't even want to be there against a team that was given a mulligan and a coaching staff that was playing politics. Bama has been gifted everything by the media. There toughest game every year is LSU and that's pretty much it on their schedule. Saban has lost his biggest regular season game every year since 2010.
Sorry but Bama shouldn't be in it this year. 2011-12 they would have been in the playoff.

sorry, you had your chance. you shouldn't get rewarded for going 1-1 against auburn, and auburn gets punished for doing the same. and yes - if LSU had lost in 2011 to Alabama in the regular season i would not have lobbied for them to play for the title at 11-1. I didn't do that in 2007 - I openly said if they don't get in the NC then that's their own fault for not going undefeated. If you don't win your conference you shouldn't play for the NC - no matter who you are. I felt this way in 2001 (Nebraska) and 2003 (Oklahoma). It's not because it's Alabama.

I bet your tune would change if LSU somehow lost 1 game to the eventual undefeated SEC champ and demolished everyone else on their schedule.

Exactly, also if you shite the bed the previous year you shouldn't play in the championship game the next year see 2004 Oklahoma or 2007 Ohio St. The playoffs will eliminate that though.

Like I said Conference champions with better or equal records and comparable strength of schedule should get in over teams that didn't win their conference.
Example would be 12-1 MSU as compared to 11-1 Bama. The only way I would agree with Bama is if they had lost to Auburn like they did but crushed everyone in conference play and beaten Stanford, Baylor and UCF in OOC play. SOS ratings that are over the top should counter balance conference champions.
It's a complicated process. Like I said FSU, Aubie MSU and Stanford.

Focusing on conference champions over strength of schedule and overalls resume is retarded.

How do you judge strength of schedule?
According to "the computers", Florida State (presumably) boasts the strongest schedule (since that's a component of the rankings for some of them) Do you agree?

Y'all are just biased against Bama. If it was LSU, you'd have them in.
That's how the committee will decide next year, like it or not, which I don't.

Some teams don't really need to waste our times being involved in the process. Ohio St, Notre Dame, Oklahoma are ones that come to mind. They've been killed enough times in the BCS eras.

If we're going 4 best teams regardless of conference, its
1. FSU vs 4. Mizzou // 2. Aub vs 3. Bama
But I don't think they'd do that, so
1. FSU vs 4. MichSt // 2. Aub vs 3. Baylor

Stanford lost to Utah, get real.

2007 was different. LSU backed into the NC game. My scenario would have LSU fans' heads rolling if they didn't make the playoff picture.

And Baylor got crushed by Okie St. Stanford has some tough losses to Utah and USC but also beat no2 Oregon, and top 15 teams ASU twice, UCLA and Washington. And they beat Notre Dame who is bowl eligible. Bama played no one OOC who is bowl eligible and played what 3 ranked teams all year losing one of those games. Cmon
