A field of 64 is different than a field of 4. Wow you Bama fans are really reaching on this one.
I tell you what, when FBS playoff goes to 64 I will push for Alabama getting an automatic spot every year.

But of course Bama would get in despite not winning their division and not having a win over a top 10 team and having only one win over a top 20 team.
This just reeks of butthurt, which I'm sure you realize. Not criticizing you for it or anything, just find it funny.
I'm done with this thread

It's so cute how offended you get when people point out how shitty of a resume your team has

In other words, you won't debate him because you know it's true. People were up in arms about the thought of tOSU going to the NC with their pussy arse schedule, but Bama has skated by for 3 years now.

You got Stanford in over Michigan St? I agree that the BIG is not that good, but they went 12-1 and did win their marquee game.

You're all insane if you don't think Bama gets in.
Either Stanford or Sparty gets screwed. One of the reasons I think you should have to win your conference to get in.

As much as I hate Bama I would put them in for this year. The main difference for why they would deserve it for this season is because they lost on the road. Home field advantage is such a big deal in college football, especially for the Iron Bowl. This is also why Bama had no business playing LSU again because they got beat in their own house!

Well in all other playoff formats, If a more talented team plays their way out of a playoff spot in the regular season, should they be rewarded a spot based on their talent level? That is the argument I see presented here regarding Alabama and the same argument that was presented in 2011. If only 4 teams can get in, teams that didn't win their conference should not be in the discussion even if they may have the "best" talent.
In the future, I could see the field expanded to 8 teams, which could then allow for a team like Alabama to be included as a "wildcard" team.

Why Baylor/Stanford over MSU? Not critical, just curious.

Has Bama really played themselves out? They lost on an amazing play on the road. They pretty much dominated everyone else. If LSU was in their position, you better believe we'd be pissed as hell if a team like Baylor who got waxed yet still won an inferior conference got in.

Stanford has two losses, but the toughest SOS. If we're going by how a team "looks", then Baylor is in. Sparty is one questionable PI call away from being unbeaten. All have conference titles, quality wins, and that quality loss Bama fans like so much (though Stanford has a bad one, too).
I hate the "best team" argument because it has nothing to back it up. It's just immune to evidence, and you can rationalize away any loss. Also, the eyeball test and "what everyone knows" is frequently wrong. It is an unreliable indicator of quality.
I like resumes. What did you do? I'd prefer conference champions only but even if there are wild cards, extreme preference should be given to champs, as it is an identifiable and important accomplishment. There is no reason to displace any of the 5 conference champs based on their resumes, so I'd chose amongst them.

I think you should be critical. I can't see any reason to put Baylor over MSU

In a 4 team scenario, yes. The conference champs are rewarded 1st. Looking at the AAC, ACC, B10, B12, P12, SEC, and AQs/Independents, along with the current polls, I think this should be the top 4 and top 8.
1) FSU
2) Auburn
3) MSU
4) Baylor/Stanford
5) Stanford/Baylor
6) UCF
7) Alabama*
8) Ohio State*
