re: Is this a trap

Hard to say. It actually does not sound like a trap. She may just want to spend a few days at her folks house and realized you may not want to.
It's not always a trap, just usually. Go for it, just bring home some meat, thereby fulfilling your obligation to feed the family.
I wish I had this option. (No camp, 3 kids, including 1 baby, and no in-laws to send my wife to for days at a time). You are a lucky man.

Like I once said.
I can come home and we will both be mad, or I can stay at the camp and just you will be mad.

I am in the same boat my man. We have a 6 month old. I will be going hunting. I will deal with the consequences when i get back.
mine is 8 months. worst part is my wife loves hunting too, but she hasn't gone yet because she stays home with the baby.
we are both taking off work tomorrow to go while the baby is at daycare though.

Yes trap. But as everyone said go giving zero fricks.
When I screw up I make sure I have plenty fun.

Easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission. Have flowers delivered to her with a note saying how much you appreciate her while you are gone.

Sounds like a good chance to get away. Take it. I find myself in similar situations and while it may seem like a trap, it really doesn't sound like it. Let her know how much you appreciate it and go. Fair warning though, you'll most likely find that you would rather be home. Kids do that to ya!

Wow, I needed to read this to see how good I have it. One of you is afraid to leave with only one kid and a mom and a sister to help the wife She needs to spend a week at my house with my 3 (2 are 15 month old twins) and she will realize how easy one is.
Another one on here posted about having to do the dishes and cook enough food for his wife while hes gone. WOW

I can agree with this. We both like to get away some though and it's good for both to spend some time with friends and away from the house occasionally. Priorities def change though.

I agree, it is funny and I'm glad to have made you smile. It works though and I get to hunt/fish. I do this more to help with my guilt of leaving my wife with 3 kids for multiple days. I think it is because I'm not a selfish person. Wish I could be one of those real men that put their foot down and say, "look here bitch, I'm going huntin so shut your face". ahhh, that would be great...

Really? No ones posted this yet?
Yes it's a trap. It I'd still go though. But I don't tolerate that passive aggressive bullshite.

Although my wife is understanding, I reserve the right to use this saying should she regress. Now she just gets pissed when I come home without anything to cook. Gotta shoot a rabbit or a couple squirrels every now and then just to keep her happy.
I left to go offshore (fishing) when my wife was 8.5 months pregnant with our first. She asked if it was going to be the same once the baby came. I told her maybe, but once the baby was 5 he/she would be coming with me. She replied "I guess I knew this when I married you."
To the OP, it's a cycle. For a while she'll be home with the baby. Then one day the baby will be old enough to go to the camp, and she'll have the weekends to play. Then the kids turn into teenagers that don't hunt like they should, and you'll have the weekends to yourself again. Get the best out of each phase, because when it's gone, it's gone.

Sounds like a mother and mother in law shopping trip to me.
May be a very expensive trip to the camp!!

When my kids were young, about the only hunting trips I did were around the holidays. She had family help with the kids so I was the perfect time to go.
Do it. Feel good about it. And offer to take care of him while she shops for Christmas or whatever.

After we had our first, within 2 weeks the wife was begging me to go fishiing or something to get out of the house, my stir crazieness was driving her crazy apparently.
At 2 months you should be good to do pretty much whatever you want.

Just don't forget to bring Father-in-Law some fresh backstrap, and perhaps some sausage once you get it processed.
If the In-Laws are happy, then the wife is happy. If the wife is happy, then all is well.

No
Your wife will be in family mode and won't care if you're there or not.

I went through the same shite last hunting season, but I had twins. Go to the camp, but when you get back tell her that you will watch the kids while she goes shopping the next day. She will appreciate it even if she doesn't go.

Nothing wrong with that. I have a friend that cooks and does laundry every night. Not my thing though. I'm rarely in before time to eat. Like I said, I needed to read it as a reminder of how good I have it. I couldnt be further from the "look here bitch" type.
