My take on this IPO, it is not a buy. Tech companies just turn me off. There are just to many unknowns.
Pricing started at $18-$20. Then hyped it up to $22-$25. And now pushing it at $26+. Is there a way to make money? Yes, but also there is a way to make money by putting everything on red.

I haven't looked at their financials, but I keep hearing analysts say "Its an unprofitable company"
Absolutely incredible that people are throwing that kind of money on something that doesn't have a set revenue stream.

Obviously its not profitable right now. Its a pure growth bet that they will be able to monetize mobile ad revenues. I think they are benefiting tremendously from facebook being able to do so. Put this is a very different platform.
FWIW they did 500 million in revenues last year and lost ~650 million.
Their current market cap is 25 billion

Pretty good article about Twitter's IPO.
It explains what I try to tell you guys here every now and then whenever you think the market is being totally irrational about a stock. Some of you are so focused on what a company's numbers look like right now that it seems like you've never heard the term "future cash flows". Facebook was much more mature (and growing more slowly) at its IPO than Twitter is. Twitter has a lot more upside potential than FB.
So, yeah, Twitter's market cap looks absurd right now. But a lot of smart money sees the potential.

But PCs generate better ad revenues. FB faced this problem that its harder to turn mobile ads into revenue. Facebook figured it out, twitter will have to.
The huge difference in FB and Twitter is growth potential in user base. Facebook needed to enhance revenues per user and that was their main focus, whereas twitter needs to ad users to grow revenues.

Can I start an O&G E&P company with 500 million dollars of revenue, "project" hundreds of billions of future CF and get a 25 billion market cap?

This.

One of the two major reasons I deleted my FB. I only used the mobile side to access it and you could not get around the ads, it was annoying.
I rarely use twitter, but the ads they already have get fricking annoying and that is one of the reasons I rarely go.

Depends. Are your revenues demonstrably growing at 100%, and will you be able to achieve margins north of 60%?
