"Deion Sanders could have shut down Megatron" --Jerry Jones

quote:
Watching Calvin Johnson shred his defense on Sunday, Cowboys owner and General Manager Jerry Jones would have loved to have had one of his old cornerbacks back: Jones said on Tuesday that he believes Deion Sanders, the Hall of Famer who played cornerback in Dallas from 1995 to 1999, could have done the job of covering Megatron.
Asked on KRLD-FM if Sanders could have shut down Megatron, Jones answered, “Yes, I do.”
Jones elaborated that Sanders was as good a shutdown corner as he’s ever seen, and so he’d like Sanders’s chances against any receiver.

It would have been more interesting than watching Brandon Carr fail miserably.

I've only seen one person shut down Calvin, and he did it 3 straight years.
RIP Paul Oliver.

I mean, it's hard to argue that if anyone could do it, it'd be Deion.
Doesn't make Jerrah and his organization any less pathetic, though.

Doesn't matter whether Deion could have or not, Jerry. None of the guys on YOUR roster could.

Only this guy could shut Megatron down

Nearly impossible to stop any receiver in the NFL with rules not allowing a DB to stare too hard at a receiver beyond 5 yards.
I see more contact allowed underneath the Basket in B-Ball than is allowed in NFL .No exaggeration ,You can barely touch a receiver.
NFL has achieved what it wants with outrageous passing stats & scores.

Not worth reading, but Lester Hayes would have shut him down before Sanders would.

And yet some still wonder why the cowboys are hated on so much

He could have shut him down

I think it's safe to say that Jerry Jones is (once again) full of it.

Dudes face is pulled back so tight he'll have to type this dumb sh#t before long. Neon could've run with him and picked bad throws but nobody like Megatron was around in that era. They were half the speed and called tight ends.

Deion Sanders couldn't shut down Jerry Rice. I have a hard time imagining Calvin Johnson being any easier for Sanders to match up with.

If only someone could shut down Jerry F***ing Jones.
