According to the LSU guy, too many people parking in free parking too early caused the problem?
Can anyone uppack that for me a little?

If cops would actually direct Burbank/Nicholson, that route would clear up entirely.

Exactly what i have been saying. No more free parking on campus!!!!! Get a pass. It will help the traffic problems.

Sure we need better cop direction as well before and after games

Here is the thesis:
LSU greatly reduced parking areas.
There are less spots.
People arrive Early for tailgating.
All the spots are taken.
Many of these people don't go into the game at any point-they just tailgate. (cool)
The lots fill up earlier than in previous years causing massive traffic jams.
Many people continue to drive past lots to seek new lots.
Many people can't find a spot and arrive late, or get frustrated and turn around.
I will confirm with my personal anecdote that this year for the first time I personally have dropped off a vehicle the night before and/or arrived at 7 am to secure a spot.

Obviously traffic was bad for whatever reason, but, off the top of my head, I can think of 8 different ways to get on to LSU's campus. Why didn't some of these people, especially the guy who really had to be there for his friend, turn around and go an alternate route?

Is it shocking at all that the free spots filled up first and filled up early?

Tailgate at home if you do not have tix to the game unless you want to buy a parking pass from someone on the secondary market

Traffic after the sc and bama games last year was hot garbage also not sure what it was before as in my spot i have no trouble getting in

This would help a ton. There are plenty of officers around the intersection, so it is not a manpower issue.

It's obvious too many fans go to LSU games. LSU should do something about that.
Oh, wait.....
Oh, wait.....

Dude stfu.
You are constantly whining like a little child about tailgating.
I bet you are fricking riot to hang out with.
You could stay home by yourself and be miserable.

It's not "shocking" it's just different than in previous years.
For instance I have been able to drive up to Kirby Smith and the surrounding neighborhood and park in the lot or at the elementary school for years.
Now the school is off limits, the band practice field is off limits, the curb parking is gone etc.
My OPINION is that there has been some pretty dramatic parking and traffic pattern changes, a lot of people have not adapted, and that has led to a whole series of events. From no-shows, to anger at LSU, to people circling or backed up in their cars for an extra hour or two causing even more delays, etc.

Did that dude just suggest only people with tickets should be allowed to tailgate?

Yes.
It's his schtick.
Can you imagine how much fun that dude is?
