1. The Thing
2. Alien
3. The Shining
4. [Rec]
5. The Exorcist
6. Paranormal Activity
7. One Missed Call (Japanese Version)
8. Poltergeist
9. Rosemary's Baby
10. Halloween
Honestly, after four, it's pretty much a toss up. Paranormal Activity would probably be higher if Hollywood decided not to bastardize it.

Best Horror film no one talks about.
I'd probably say:
Changeling
Exorcist
The Thing
Invasion of the Body Snatchers
Night of the Living Dead
The Shining
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Halloween
Them (French name: Ils)
Psycho
Insidious and Sinister were two recent films to really hit the classic horror spot too. They won't a splash like they would have in the past, but they are very much the best of the modern horrors.

I can't believe Jacob's Ladder hasn't been mentioned in this discussion yet.
Someone put Session 9, which is also very creepy, both were used as inspiration for scenes in Silent Hill.

Since 2006:
- Cabin in the Woods (horror/satire/dark comedy)
- The Possession (usually movies like this struggle to end - like The Devil Inside or The Last Exorcism - but this one did a solid job)
- The Woman in Black (surprisingly solid)
- Grave Encounters
- The Crazies
- Human Centipede (though arguably not horror)
- Pandorum (some hate it, but I liked it)
- Triangle
- Zombieland (more comedy than horror, but still..)
- Contagion (not horror but scary in its own right)
- Cloverfield (I liked it)
- Quarantine
- The Strangers
- The Mist
- 30 Days of Night
- 28 days Later
- Buried (not really horror)
- I Am Legend
- The Hills Have Eyes
- Paranormal Activity (just the first one though, and if you haven't seen a trailer, don't watch one because it ruins the end)
- The Poughkeepsie Tapes
- The Covenant

Big fan of the Rob Zombie horror flicks. House of 1000 corpses, Devil's Rejects and his remake of Halloween. He is a sick dude and I love it.

I like his stuff except for Halloween 2. Thought that was just awful.
I wonder if Lords of Salem is any good.
