so you're saying Miles purposely let Auburn back into the game with his conservative play calling?
interesting...

and of course we're not suspicious of that at all.

didn't we get away with an ineligible man downfield when they called a PI on Auburn earlier in the game? I think it was evan washington rumbling way down the field
Yep

Not 1 hold call against AU which happened early and often to LSU defense and was part of reason some of the runs broke so well in 2nd half...but about what I expect from Ritter and co...

This was Tom Ritter's crew. He absolutely has the worst crew in the SEC. His crew handled the 2006 LSU-Auburn game where the unsportsmanlike call was made at the end of the game for Ronnie Prude trying to block the extra point. Tom Ritter is a horrible individual and I hope he gets the clap.

Tom Ritter crew. Nothing suspicious. Just incompetence. Every single game his crew handles is a mess no matter what teams are playing.

I just looked at it all as the refs just trying to keep the game closer than it was.
What pissed me off more than anything was the onside kick. From the replay, it was MORE than clear that the kicker touched the ball before the 10 yards. The guys in the replay truck kept showing the stop-motion picture where the kicker was reaching back and touching the ball before the 10 yards. Yet, despite this, Brad Nessler kept insisting that the kicker didn't touch the ball.
It was almost like the guys in the replay truck were trying to say, "HEY F-CKFACE, we keep showing you PROOF that he touched the ball prior to the 10 yard marker -- OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN. So, quit making a complete arse of yourself."
But, Nessler kept insisting that the ball had traveled the requisite 10 yards.

all failure. come back after T-town and you may have valid points.
i liked the fact that they basically let the olines play--i don't remember many if any holding calls on linemen. to me that call is the most susceptible to bias and inconsistent calling because you can arguably find holding on pretty much any play.

Example 1: After the Auburn onside kick, the officials hurried to place the ball that way their would be no review.
you're being paranoid....try switching to a milder strain
quote:
Example 2: The touchdown run if I'm not mistaken by Hill that was called back for a terrible holding call right next to the Auburn sideline, the Auburn player actually tried to shed the block and ended up pulling I think it was Landry down.
was shitty holding call...I'll give ya that
quote:
Example 3: Jarvis Landry TD Catch, this was the most obvious, there was a face mask, and Landry never touched the ground, I don't know if this was unreviewable, but that was awful.
he was down, elbow and helmet
quote:
Example 4: Beckam Jr. Pass interference, he was not within 5 yards of anyone in the first place, and secondly it looked like the official threw the flag being scared he was going to catch it inbounds.
was very ticky tack

On the flipside, I think there was a penalty on Auburn (defensive holding?) where we were driving towards the south endzone on a play where our #75 seemed to very clearly be way down the field on a pass to the 10 yard line or so.
There was a flag and I thought for sure it'd be for the lineman being downfield. But, it wound up being a call on Auburn for something unrelated. You could see #75 throwing his arms up to the sideline after the play like "hey, I don't know what I'm doing way down here either!"

We got our fair share of generous calls.

Salmon, I've RVed around most of Montana, and you are not as smart as most folks I met up there!

Alright, here we go again.
The rule states that the ball is marked 5 yds from where the ball was thrown (the 4), because up until then, it was a legal RUN. I'll go get the rule...again...
7.3.2.e. If thrown from in or behind the neutral zone after a ball carrier in possession of the ball has gone beyond the neutral zone [S35 and S9].
PENALTY—Five yards from the spot of the foul; also loss of down if by Team A before team possession changes during a scrimmage down (A.R. 3-4-3-IV and A.R. 7-3-2-II) [S35 and S9].
Up to the point of the Illegal Pass, it was a legal run. The offense gets the benefit (or the detriment) of the legal run.
Go the other way. LOS is B's 40. A7 runs to the B35, and throws an Illegal Forward Pass. For some reason, B declines the penalty. Where is the next spot? You don't go back to the 40, it's the B35.
Everything up to the point of an Illegal Pass is a legal run.

We were fortunate on the onside kick call.

They were bad for AU too.

no game is called perfectly. i didn't feel like LSU was getting shafted, and I am a chronic ref critic.

boone called on holding. but he wasnt.
onside kick was close but it looked like he touched it.
He may not have been holding, but Hill was definitely not set before the snap. Surprised that didn't get called, either Nessler or Blacklege saw it.
And as glad as I am that the onside kick got overturned, I didn't think it would be, and am still not sure that it should have been. It was very close to 10 yards.
That being said, the officials didn't have anything to do with that game being as close as it was. LSU allowed Auburn to climb back in.
