I though those cherry pickers were nice tidbits. Just making the case for him for arguments sake.
And I really don't like considering magic and big o as pg's. They weren't the pg, they had a pg on the team, thqt guy just wasn't the facilitator. Those two didn't guarded pg's. If you picked a team of Magic, Michael, Larry, Duncan, Shaq, the opposing pg would do whatever he wanted most likely, unless you replace lebron with Larry and then he would guard him.
Kidd getting all those triple doubles is much more impressive than magic and big o given their sizes.

No. He isn't even in the top 10.

Kidd was just a facilitator. That's it. No defense, couldn't shoot. hell, I thought he couldn't dunk at one time.

Kidd isn't much smaller than Oscar.
Posted on 8/23/13 at 12:03 am to FightinTigersDammit
Kidd is/was 6'4 215. Oscar was 6'5 215-220. Granted, Oscar was the size of most SFs in his day.

9 all nba defensive teams and the 3rd most 3 pointers ever make it kind of hard to say he had no defense and couldn't shoot.
I can understand the no shoot one, b/c teams routinely left him open back in the day. But for most of Kidd's career, he guarded the best PG or SG on the opposing team. He wasn't guarding Mario Chalmers when they won the championship, he guarded Wade.
and he can dunk

Larry finished with 1.9 3PA per game and shot 37.6%
Kidd finished with 4.1 3PA per game and shot 35%
Kidd took more than 3 times as many 3's as Larry over his career, and they still shot around the same %.
He won't stay in 3rd long, Jason Terry will pass him this year, and Paul Pierce and Billups will next year, if they don't this coming year.
All i'm saying is that Jason Kidd has some pretty spectacular stats when you look back at his career. All of his stats together look better than any other PG stats.

Bird was a great 3-guard though

Kidd made most of those 3's on the back end of his career with the set and release shot from the old days of basketball. He should have played with Big O cause his game fit in more with those days. Don't know how he madr so many all defenses teams because his D was average at best. He wasn't stealing balls like Paul.

Havent read every page - has Isiah Thomas been mentioned? Dude was flat out incredible in the mid 1980s.

He most certainly was, one of the best ever

I don't think 9 of them is a fluke or something.
Only Pippen, Kareem, Kobe, Garnett, and Duncan have more. And that is something voted on by the coaches, not media or fans.
And he's 2nd all time in steals

Since the 2001 season, he only made less than 100 3's in a season twice, and those two seasons he only played 67 games (made 94 that year), and 48 games
In 2002 he started shooting a lot more threes than before, around twice as much, and his % went up a good bit as well. His first 3 seasons in Dallas he shot over 40% in each one.

You know a thread has turned for the worse when people are saying Jason Kidd wasn't a very good defender. Absolutely ridiculous. I'm a Pistons fan. Had to watch him on all of those good Nets teams.

Only PG to win a championship as the best player on his team. Big O and Magic were huge and they both had Kareem. Billups was the 1st and 5th best guy on his team at the same time so he doesn't count either.

no one cares about those numbers. all that matters is total 3pt made for determining best 3pt shooter. therefore kidd >>>>> bird and kidd >>> stojakovic
ipso facto

frick out of here with your dirty to the drawers Pistons. Maybe Kidd should have played D like that and I would vote for him.

yeah, about 2001 on is around the time he start hoisting up 3's from that set and shoot position, before then, most of the 90's he was nonexistent as a shooter. Jordan would be on that list of more times than Kidd had he not semi retired, although Jordan should have been on the All defense team every year of his NBA career.

You mean that set and shoot position like Larry.
