what cut was that? front shoulder

It may have been. It looked like the bottom of a ham when I thawed it out. I have steaks, roast, ground meat, and sausage from a bunch of different deer. The cook time and the meat being less tender leads me to believe that it was a cull buck I shot on opening weekend of bow season. The meat is like butter on those younger does when you slow cook a roast.

Dang brother - what did you do for lunch In between? Roast looks great. Need to start coking some myself.

Miss the Ruston peaches - got them every year when I was at Tech and see them advertised as such every now and then - may have to grab some.

Fine looking plate of food. My husband isn't a hunter, so I have never cooked deer. IWEI, for sure.

Very nice. Now you could elevate it a bit with some fried catfish tossed in.

What, that trash fish!?!? Eating a trash fish like that would show how primitive he is. - signed Heady

Yep...that's the creative twist the dish needed to put it over the top. Pure genius.

CBLSU316- if it was the one on Perkins. Around 4:00. That was actually me. I cooked a big roast for some friends and that's the sauce I use. Pretty much same exact method as the OP, but I'm out of deer.

It's real similar to cooking beef. I would substitute it for any dish that calls for beef. Once you eat it a for a while you understand how bad grocery store ground beef is. I'm not saying that I don't like a good ribeye or fillet, but you get my drift.

That's a new one for me Martini. I can't say that I wouldn't have ate catfish with it if I fried some up.
