This is something that happens everywhere and is simply the result of these kids trying to have some form of a normal college experience during the offseason.
Sorry...fighting in a bar parking lot was not a part of my "normal college experience"

So you are telling me that 5000 LSU students have done/experience something like what Hill did in that video? That number is just a tad high I think...

Should they be held to a higher standard in a lot of ways?
frick yes they should be. Jeremy Hill is getting for free something I had to work my arse off for: a college education and a place to live. If he is put on this campus to represent LSU, then he damned well better act right and not embarrass the school.
This "boys will be boys" and "normal college experience" horseshite has really gotten old. There is NO excusing what he did.

I'd like to know what happened before the video begins. Regardless, it was a bad move on Hill's part and is pretty much inexcusable. This was not a fight, it was an apparently unprovoked attack. If Hill never plays another game in a LSU uniform, I will be okay with that.

You made quite the leap there buddy.

Well that is grossly inaccurate. Sure, he has the god given talent that put him in the position to earn his athletic scholarship.
However, he has to work his arse off to maintain that scholarship by attending workouts, practices, film studies, and probably some team mandated volunteer work. All while maintaing a passing GPA.
Sure, he may not have been held to as high of academic standards as you to receive a college education, but to imply he didn't have to do any hard work is a joke.

I love LSU and love LSU football but that wasn't a fight on video, that was a cheap shot sucker punch on a guy that was already in a fight and knocked down. If that video had showed Hill and the other guy just duking it out, I honestly would feel differently.
Yeah Yeah PSU is the last place I got my degree (I'm an LSU undergrad) so that's why it's on my fan listing. I wish they had dual fan options.

No doubt it was a cheap shot.

I love this "he is gettin paid" routine. LSU Football gives excess funds to the Academic part of the University. LSU is one of only two universities in the country that do this and take NO state money from the university. JH33 is just one of the pack mules that makes this happen. So are you paying them enough. There are people out there who think not and have filed suit to have the TV revenues split to the players. Additionally, he is prohibited or restricted from employment while he is on that scholarship so spare the "he gettin paid bullshite"

After reading most of the posts on this and other ones and having watched the video a half a dozen times I can say without a doubt that there are two ways of seeing what happened.
There are the fans who want wins at any cost and are ready to forgive anything short of murder (hey maybe even murder) as long as that big NC comes our way. I guess you might throw in there the thugs, frat rats, alcoholics, that think getting drunk in bars and getting into fights is part of the "college experience".
Those folks are upset that he was arrested and even more upset that Miles didn't immediately say that it wasn't a problem and that he will play football this fall. They claim he has been singled out because he is a football player and it would have been no big thing if it had happened to a "regular person".
Then there are those that point out this is the guys second run in with the law in 12 months and that he was lucky that he served no jail time the first time. And yes, they agree that he was singled out because he was a star football player, but they say it is the other way around and that he has gotten breaks the "regular person" wouldn't have gotten.
Although LSU fans, they want a program they can be proud of, as well as a program that wins. They long for a time when coaches didn't make more money than anyone else in the state and sportsmanship was at least given lip service if not always practiced. When most players were grateful at being given a chance at an education and didn't look at it as training for a pro career most of them will never have.
As for me, I lean towards the second group, which you could probably already tell. I will always be an LSU fan, nothing will ever change that. But if Jeremy Hill is on the team, even if he is playing great football, I will always have that video in my mind and feel a little diminished because of it.

I don't think a single person would say this.

I'm not holier than though and understand that fights at bars are somewhat common. However, the video appears to show the guy that he hit was already getting hit and was weeble wobblin around and Hill sucker punched him then celebrated his victorious punch(es).
If it was just a regular fight between consenting adults then I think some people might have a different opinion. The fact that he sucker punched a guy that looked like one of those inflatable clowns makes it worse.
