I swear some of the Lsu fans think Jeremy Hill has already been convicted of manslaughter.

All day yesterday on the radio... Each caller more ridiculous than the one before them calling in.

I've never seen a fan base that gets so angry at young men when they make mistakes as LSU fans do. It's like the boys have done it to them personally- to somehow ruin the fans lives. They seem to make it worse than it is. Believe the worst outcome. Think our coaching staff has a team out of control despite the evidence that other SEC teams have more (some many more) guys in trouble than we do- and despite the overwhelming number of truly great young men on our team. What is it about so much of our fan base?

Because he shouldn't. If you or I were in the same situation we wouldn't be staring down jail time.

No doubt. It's getting old.

"Seems like people are happy he may not get anything serious..why?"

I think the reason for this sentiment is the concept of the punishment fitting the crime. In isolation, neither of his incidents appear "that bad." Sexual act with underage girl but they bother were in high school. It doesn't excuse anything but this happens all the time. One punch at a bar. Sounds like a classic "simple battery" to me. A crime? Sure. But he's not John Dillinger for goodness sake.

As for me, I would like to see Hill given a sentence that does not include jail time and a team suspension of 2-3 games. My concern, though, is that the revocation of probation is going to be more problematic that some on here seem to think.

I'm also tired of the ignorant wretches of Baton Rouge going out and picking fights with lsu football players because they don't have shite to lose and think they're billy badass. Hill should get a medal for whipping that dudes arse.

I mean shite, hill removed himself from the situation once and the guy kept after him.

You haven't followed college football long? Part of it. You can't hinge your hopes on 18-23 year olds without taking both the good and bad sides of their lives. It will not change- ever.

If an unknown frat boy had the same two issues on their record there would be absolutely NO discussion of jail time or more severe punishment.

LSU is just the opposite of many D-1 powers in that we over punish some athletes while most schools give them far more leniancy than the rest of students.

DA should back off. Kids gonna be kids!

Or better yet, if it were a well-known frat boy. Like, say, the son of one of Hillar Moore's frat brothers. Kid wouldn't even be going in front of a fricking judge. I'm sure would take the same "as charged" stance as he is now.

This is what I've been saying. Not to mention what kind of shitty arse students do we have to be out taunting football players?

DA is just doing his job. It just shouldn't be to this extent.

Read JHill the 'final chance' act, scare the heck out of him, put him on a short leash and let him play. That is what will happen if he is treated like others in similar circumstances are treated.

We will need Hill back for sure, my guess is he misses first 2-3 games...

To various posters earlier.

Yes I know we wouldn't be staring down jail time. Also not a publicized figure or on probation.

Also, I'm 20. I know how stupid we are, and people shouldn't pick those fights but they do anyway. Football players need a bouncer attached to them then...might as well.

Not bashing Jeremy because I went to elementary school with him for a short time. He was that big in second grade it seems like. Kid ate salads for lunch. And lots of it. Although the girl incident was retarded, and he shoulda still known better.

He has been punished by LSU for the girl thing already.

The punch is a misdemeanor.

One game at the very most and probably none.

I say 1 game is enough. The kid that started it got what he deserved. IMO, bar fights should not end up in front of judges.

On the girl thing - Half the FB team would be in jail today if BJs were the crime. The only thing JH did different was use bad judgement.

What is helping to fuel this is sports radio. Basically the guys on Sirius 91 are saying he will be gone from the team, it is only a matter of time.

Reality is they have no clue.

So a bar fight is okay. If I killed someone in a bar fight or at least put them in the hospital with brain damage (which hitting someone behind the ear very hard could do) then would that be okay?

The truth is the opposite from what a lot of you have said. If he hadn't been a football player he would have gotten jail time on the first offense and been a registered sex offender. Read the newspaper or research on the Web. Lots of similar cases where they were both in school but more than three years age difference have resulted in jail time. I'm not saying it's right but that's what happens.

As far as the effect on the football team, it actually might be good if he didn't play. What if he sits out two or three games and Hilliard and Blue are tearing it up? Isn't that exactly the kind of distraction that we got when Jefferson came back?

Isn't this why you recruit multiple players at each position so that you have backups? We still only play one running back at a time and I think we still have three good ones without Hill. So take a chill pill. We will be okay no matter what happens.

IMO he certainly deserves some additional punishment as he was already given a break on the girl issue and then could not keep out of trouble. However, the additional punishment will be due to what I will call the 'thug syndrome' both locally and in sports in general. Locally the DA and law enforcement is cracking down on thugs/gangs in a big way and is going to be less willing to give him any more breaks so as not to look like like they are playing favorites because he is a LSU athlete. Along those same lines the fact that he is an athlete is going to work against him this time given the 'thug syndrome' that is permeating pro sports. The Aaron Hernandez case was the final straw and owners know that 'thugs' are hurting the game and will be looking to their farm system(college) to help them clean it up. They are already beginning to try to identify 'at risk' athletes who show the propensity to commit crimes, people like JH. He is probably just going to be caught in a time of less tolerance. I think the days of 'just a bar fight' are over. If JH were in training to be an IBM manager instead of a pro football player he would be looking for another job!
